This is more of a rant than a question. But what is it with folks who initiate contact and then stop?! This has happened to me 4 times now. A woman will initiate contact-either through GC or a request to email. I respond quickly. Twice now on GC I get nothing back. One woman went to email, we each traded one email (nothing long or involved-it was the at the outset) and then no response. The latest one asked for my phone number and never called. I can understand if a big red flag comes up that causes a person to want to end it but at the very beginning? One set of multiple choice questions and that's it? I certainly can't tell if the other person is someone I want to meet just by trading a couple on line messages. Supposedly this site matches compatible people. Don't folks want to spend some time to find out if the other person is compatible? I have yet to get to a point in on line communication where I don't want to find out more about the other person-at least not at the outset. The point is to meet someone. Isn't it?

This is typical.

Remember dont assume you are the only ones they are talking to. The women may be communicating with 6 men at a time and they have already rank-ordered who they are interested in first in wanting to meet.

These women/men who seemed to disappear we like to refer to as "poofers"

That is why you never really know what is real and what isnt until you get to open communication.

The problem that has occurred is that more people have signed up for online dating sites but as a result the seriousness has dropped in the dating pool where more are signing up to see if they can find their fantasy match and arent all that serious in actually dating.

Typical online dating behavior.
Men do it too.
The point is to survive the process... if you do, maybe you get to meet someone; if you are lucky, maybe you like them; and if the stars are all aligned, maybe they like you back :-)

some want to move on but have boyfriends/husbands and aren't available. the type who are window shopping for now.

some have fake profiles or have lied or used deception (e.g. fake/old photos)

some don't believe in persuing more than 1 man at a time so will drop you if they have arranged to have coffee with another man and will return to you if it doesn't work. they think this is the moral way to behave.

some have lots of interest so will drop you until they need to come back to you.

some believe that all the profiles are genuine and non of the men have lied about age, job and photos. so they think they are about to meet george clooney or brad pitt after viewing a new profile with that kind of photo! so immediately drop you for the new bigger better deal!
and they can't believe their luck that a handsome brad pitt lookalike or whatever is talking to them - then they meet him and find out he is 4ft 11 and 15 stone and used a fake photo and has no job and lives out of a caravan!

some think that they are in a sweet shop where they can have anything they desire but think that because it's all done on computer your feelings don't matter. so they can do whatever they like without upsetting anyone.

This sums it up pretty well, especially the bolded part.
