I'm a 30 year old male, Christian and looking for a Christian lady. Here's my profile:

The one thing I am most passionate about:
Glorifying God, photography, fishing, kayak fishing, traveling to Europe whenever I can afford it (haven't been since college).

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
A keen and insightful intelligence; the playful sparkle in the eyes, and behind it all an underlying faith in God that provides the bedrock for her life.

In my own words
The most influential person in my life has been:

I would have to say my Grandma is probably the person to put here... She's always been the one I look to when I need to understand people in a way my parents weren't able to tell me... smartest lady I know

The three things which I am most thankful for:

The Cross
my close-knit family
my close friends
Three of my best life-skills are:

Finding creative solutions to everyday problems
Remaining calm yet resilient during a crisis
Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

That I'm very observant, and generally can recognize when somebody is happy, or hurting, or in need of a good playful tackle to keep them away from my last slice of pizza...

The things I can't live without are:

My Faith
My Family
Good books to read
My computer/the internet
A car
The first thing people notice about me:

That I'm very playful/sarcastic/silly (though I know when to be serious. usually.)

Some additional information I want you to know:

I love the sense of accomplishment when you pull off something amazing. I love the depth of the old hymns, and the simple adoration of praise and worship. The laughter of a baby when you play peek-a-boo, and the gasp of sheer, speechless amazement as you approach the the edge of a cliff somewhere and behold the natural wonders of God's creation.

My interests
I typically spend my leisure time:

My favorite things to do are taking pictures of anything that catches my eye, hiking, fishing, camping, kayak fishing, or, best of all when I get the chance I like to fly (I'm not a pilot but I'll take up any offers I get to fly). I'm no stranger to a good movie, and I absolutely love to read. I recently discovered the joy of kayak fishing, and spend a good bit of time in the summer drifting on quiet mountain lakes with a line in the water and a camera at the ready.
The last book I read and enjoyed:

I'm really into epic fantasy type books and enjoy Christian development stuff as well. My most recent read that sticks in my mind is a series by Ted Dekker called the Circle series. It's a Christian fiction series that which starts and ends with book 0 (ie, book 0 can seemlessly either start the series or finish it, depending on how you decide to read it). It was pretty interesting, and had a lot of very valuable insight to offer on our world.
According to my friends:
My friends describe me as:

Good Listener
Loyal
Thoughtful
Intelligent

The profile on the surface is fine.

The issue though is how religious are you? You mention religion too much in it that you will likely scare many away even some who are regular church goers.

What exactly are you looking for with religion in your match? What if she was a different sect of christianity from you like say you are catholic and she is baptist?

Hi phoenixhawke and welcome to EHA.

It's a good profile -- gives your matches a lot to respond to. The one thing I'd suggest changing is your "passionate about section". You put:

Glorifying God, photography, fishing, kayak fishing, traveling to Europe whenever I can afford it (haven't been since college).

This is a list of interests, not ONE passion, which is what works best in this section. Remember your matches may have read 100's or even 1000's of profiles by now, and lists like this just make the eyes glaze over.

Instead, pick ONE thing you truly care about, say what it is, say why you love it, say how you pursue it in your life.

Good luck with your search!

Select one area of interest and expand on it. That makes for a more interesting read than a list.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
A keen and insightful intelligence; the playful sparkle in the eyes, and behind it all an underlying faith in God that provides the bedrock for her life.

I like this. It's not one most important thing, but I like the way it is written.

In my own words
The most influential person in my life has been:

(I would have to say) my Grandma is (probably) the person to put here... She's always been the one I look to when I need to understand people (in a way my parents weren't able to tell me...) smartest lady I know

Take out the waffle-words (in brackets) and leave out the baggage about your parents.

The three things which I am most thankful for:

The Cross
my close-knit family
my close friends

This is the third reference to Christianity. Once is enough.

Three of my best life-skills are:

Finding creative solutions to everyday problems
Remaining calm yet resilient during a crisis
Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

That I'm very observant, and generally can recognize when somebody is happy, or hurting, or in need of a good playful tackle to keep them away from my last slice of pizza.(..)

I like this. It's both insightful and fun to read.

The things I can't live without are:

(My Faith) Yes. We get it.
My Family
Good books to read
My computer/the internet
A car
The first thing people notice about me:

That I'm very playful/sarcastic/silly (though I know when to be serious. usually.)

Some additional information I want you to know:

The laughter of a baby when you play peek-a-boo, and the gasp of sheer, speechless amazement as you approach the the edge of a cliff somewhere and behold the natural wonders of God's creation.

This is a good selection of random thoughts. I think it speaks well of you.

My interests

My favorite things to do are taking pictures of anything that catches my eye, hiking, fishing, camping, kayak fishing, or, best of all when I get the chance I like to fly (I'm not a pilot but I'll take up any offers I get to fly). This is good.

Overall, this is a good profile. It needs only a little tweaking.

Ok thanks for the advice. I changed some things up:

The one thing I am most passionate about:
Photography. I find it intensely rewarding to capture a moment of serene beauty, or laughter, candid moments or that special look and preserving it for years to come. I would love to start a side business selling prints and portrait packages someday.

The most influential person in my life has been:

My Grandma... She's always been the one I look to when I need advice. She's a keen observer of people... smartest lady I know.

The things I can't live without are:

My Camera (Is this too much mention of the photography thing now?)
My Family
Good books to read
My computer/the internet
A car

I typically spend my leisure time:

I'm no stranger to a good movie, and I absolutely love to read. I discovered the joy of kayak fishing last summer, and now I spend a good amount of time in the summer drifting on quiet mountain lakes with a line in the water and a camera at the ready.

I disagree with the posters who advised to delete too many of the "Christian" references. If he is a devout Christian - as in, "saved", or "born again", he should be able to be upfront about that on his profile.

I have a friend who has done eH on and off for a couple of years, and she is a Christian woman also looking for another Christian man. Not just a "Catholic" or "Methodist" or "Baptist" etc, because those are all christian faiths, but someone who identifies as a "Christian" in the larger sense (Sorry, I don't know the terminology, my friend would know, but she's not here right now! I am not trying to be offensive with the terms.).

eHarmony does not differentiate between religious denominations, but from reading your profile you are Christian, looking for another Christian. Unless I am reading that wrong in your original profile?
