Thanks everyone for your feedback on this new feature. We’re glad that many of you are finding it useful, and we look forward to further improving the experience.

I wanted to address one point that a number of you have brought up – events showing up from Closed matches.

Currently the way the Activity Feed works is that it shows events from matches that are New or Archived. New events from Closed matches aren’t displayed by default.

I checked with the development team, and here’s what we believe is happening. Customers that are complaining about events from Closed matches are actually seeing events from the time when those matches were New or Archived. Meaning the events that you see are events that occurred in the past when those matches were available for communication.

The team is working on an enhancement to automatically remove events created by Closed matches, but for now, they’ve included a really easy way to delete any feed item – see the small “X” or delete button next to each feed item.

Another thing to keep in mind, your feed will store about a month’s worth of events, so depending on what your matches are up to, you could have a great way to find out even more information about your matches.

We hope you continue to find the feature useful, and as I mentioned, we’re going to continue to enhance it as we go.

Please keep the feedback coming.

Here's one case for me:

Both you and XXX have chosen to close each other.
You closed XXX on January 19, 2011, 11:46PM PST.
XXX closed you on January 23, 2011, 10:17AM PST.

XXX viewed your Profile 01/17/2011
XXX viewed your Profile 01/21/2011

We were matched on Jan 17. She viewed me that day. I viewed and closed her on Jan 19. I would not expect the Jan 21 view to show up under the circumstances described.

Thank you! Can you get back to us once this is fixed (er, "enhanced") to let us know?

Yes, but this doesn't allow us to remove our updates from our closed matches' pages, which is the bigger concern.

It seems like eH created the Archive folder to discourage quick closure of matches. For many of us, Archive quickly became the close folder because of the practical obstacles this new "feature" created to closing a lot of matches efficiently.

So, while it's nice to know the developers are working on something, it sure doesn't sound like updates on archived matches are going to go away... and thus for me, if I were still logging into my account, the proposed fix would be insufficient.

Yes, even with the proposed fix there will be hours spent closing archived matches in order for it to do any good. That's something I have to consider when deciding if I want to resubscribe or not.
