I've never seen this feature, so I will wait until the mods can confirm whether or not EH has rolled this out for trial..

Does anyone know if ALL matches can see when we last logged in, even if they are inactive? What about the matches we've closed? I like the idea of being able to see if our new matches are active or not, but I do not want all of the thousands of people I've ever matched with to be able to monitor my use of eh. At that point I might as well just be on match.com. Stalkerish, indeed.

Don't worry, there are just as many members who share this opinion and see the benefit.

If they made it an option- eH would be going backwards again. Like when people had the option to make their views anonymous..

If there was a last login feature..I hope you would need to click on the profile to see it, so they would show up in your who's me viewed me list. IMO people would be less likely to stalk - when the user knows they're doing it.
Good option

Did everyone notice that now you can tell what day every member logged in? It's right next to the member's name when you click on their profile.

My view on this is that this feature should not be there - or we should have the option to turn it off. EHarmony is supposed to be different than those lower cost or free dating websites - more discrete.

With the ability of other members to see when the day I've last logged on (today, yesterday, etc), I am feeling pressured to continue communication with all... whereas I'd prefer sometimes to advance communication with certain members more quickly than others.

I would suggest one of:

(a) Making this feature optional so members can turn it off.

(b) Making it more vague such as limiting the information to "active in last 4 days" as the smallest amount of time. Then "active within 1 week" and "active within 2 weeks" and "active over 2 weeks".

Any other thoughts out there?

I like this feature if it is coming . While I originally disagreed with PrivacyConcern's post, I now see value in being able to turn off the feature.

However, I believe this should be treated the same as our photos and our Personality Profiles. We can hide those but our matches know we are hiding something. It is our right to share or not to share , but I also think they have the right to know we choose not to share with them . They could use a statement like “member chooses to hide their last login”.

This compromise helps all in allowing us to decide to pursue a match that is either long gone or a “player”. The non player who wants to preserve their privacy just needs to “justify” their actions if their matches value transparency. IMHO

Considering the OP's first post on the boards was one encouraging members to call and complain to EH Customer Service, I lean towards this not being the case.

I don't need to know when a person was last actively online. I just want EH to remove long-time inactive profiles from the mix.

The same reaction happened last spring when the eH Product Team were active here on the boards..

They spoke of a last login feature and asked the board how they would like it to work, but just like many of their members they too poofed!

Bottom line people are going to stalk whether there is an last login feature or not. They do owe it to the paying members to come up with something that works for both sides of the fence. I also thought a message read or not read indication would fit that need. Doesn't give you the exact time or date..

IMO the last login is like giving everyone a peek behind behind the curtain at the great all powerful Oz, confirming what many already know..

While I think a last login is a wonderful idea, I don't have it.

The closest information I have is the date we were matched, when I last viewed a profile and the date of the last communication.
