I've been on here a few months and I'm looking for ways to improve my profile. I've included my pics. I'm having a hard time finding pics since I'm limited to recent pics since I lost 35 pounds since the summer so I posted what I could. Thanks in advance.

The one thing I am most passionate about:

I am passionate about helping people. It is something I have felt strongly about since middle school. Helping others is something I always found fulfilling. Currently, I am working on helping under served communities from a policy perspective. I like to hear what people have to say about how their communities can be improved and find ways to meet their expectations.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
The most important thing I am looking for is someone who is smart and funny. I tend to click with people who are deep thinkers and can analyze life's complexities. I am looking for someone I can have deep conversations with about various stuff like art, politics, society, people or anything we may have in common. But at the same time I like to goof off. So I guess I'm looking for someone who can do both. =) I am looking to meet cool people to develop a friendship which can maybe turn into something more.

* About Me
Basic Information
Occupation: Urban Planner for Public Transit
Age 29
Height 5' 11"
Wants Kids: Maybe
Kids at Home: No
Ethnicity Hispanic or Latino
Religion: Spiritual, but not religious
Drinks: A few times a year
Smokes: A few times a year

In my own words
The most influential person in my life has been:
It's hard to pinpoint one person, but it would probably be my track coach from high school. He was cool yet was able to get the best out of his students by being honest and real with us. I felt like I could relate to him and yet he could get the best out of me. I try to emulate his teaching style in what I do.

The three things which I am most thankful for:
* My family
* Having a job
* My friends

Three of my best life-skills are:
* Understanding local, national, and world events
* Entertaining in my home
* Being a good friend and companion

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:
I wish more people would notice my sense of humor. Often people don't get my sarcasm or dry wit. But I have a blast with people who are into that type of humor. =)

The things I can't live without are:
* Family
* Computer
* Books
* Car
* My job

The first thing people notice about me:
People say that I am mellow and smart. People seem to like my mellow nature and how I am calm under pressure. Other people have told me that they judge me as being a deep thinker as well.

Some additional information I want you to know:
I love public service and serving communities that are often looked over. It has become a passion of mine. I really admire people who work in fields where they help others. I am fairly laid back but I'm looking to have fun too.

My interests
I typically spend my leisure time:
Exercise, reading and movies.

The last book I read and enjoyed:
I am reading the first Sherlock Holmes novel A Study in Scarlet (I love my Kindle). It's the book where the audience is introduced to the character of Sherlock Holmes for the first time. I can relate to Sherlock Holmes to some extend because I like to analyze things that other folks don't overlook.

According to my friends:
My friends describe me as:
* Genuine
* Caring
* Loyal
* Intelligent

Remove that last sentence - people on dating sites are not looking for a buddy, they are looking to date and develop a relationship through that. What you've written sounds like you are wishy washy about what you want and that is a huge red flag.

I wish more people would notice my sense of humor. Often people don't get my sarcasm or dry wit. But I have a blast with people who are into that type of humor. =) To many people this may translate as you use humor to be a jerk, but when people get offended you just blame them for not getting you. Also, when someone is genuinely funny, it's pretty much impossible not to notice that. I would rethink this section.

The things I can't live without are:
* Family

I love public service and serving communities that are often looked over. It has become a passion of mine. I really admire people who work in fields where they help others. I am fairly laid back but I'm looking to have fun too. Think of something else to say here. Right now you are just repeating what's already been said and that makes it seem like there is nothing else to you.

My interests
I typically spend my leisure time:
Exercise, reading and movies. Expand a little more here - don't you have friends you spend time with? What kind of exercise? What types of movies, what else?

The last book I read and enjoyed:
I am reading the first Sherlock Holmes novel A Study in Scarlet (I love my Kindle). It's the book where the audience is introduced to the character of Sherlock Holmes for the first time. Overall a pretty good profile. Please keep in mind that I'm only commenting on how a stranger reading your profile may interpret what you've written and not on you as a person.

As for pictures, the second picture is unflattering and I'd remove it. Other than that, have a friend take some better snapshots of you for additional pics.

It's common to put those main things in your life that you're thankful for, but then your answers will just blend in with the crowd. So you may either want to find a way to make them more specific through descriptions, or pick 3 things that not everyone can be thankful for -- things that you have that not everyone has or not everyone appreciates.

Three of my best life-skills are:
* Understanding local, national, and world events
* Entertaining in my home
* Being a good friend and companion

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

I think that while this list is fine, it can be more outstanding and interesting. There are a few things on the list you've already mentioned, and others seem sort of mundane. I think this section works best when you pick 5 things that you don't want to live with out -- things that you consider the luxuries of life that you greatly enjoy. And don't forget that it helps to be specific.

The first thing people notice about me:
People say that I am mellow and smart. People seem to like my mellow nature and how I am calm under pressure. Other people have told me that they judge me as being a deep thinker as well.
I think this is good; you could make it more interesting if you added an example of how people notice this about you (in your actions and words).

These three things are pretty broad, so you may want to add examples or make them more specific: what type of exercise? What kind of books and movies (genre), and maybe add "why".

Hi Spengler56,

Overall, I think that your profile is strong and you did well at making it interesting to read, clear, and specific. I have a few small comment in purple in the quote.

Congratulations on losing 35 pounds! That's a real accomplishment. I do like the first one and the third one, I think it's the "unique angle" in the 2nd one is distracting for me, since you are highlighting your personality, your interests visually through pictures. You can make a photo shoot fun.

Good luck!

I agree with the comments you got above and don't have anything to add. Agree that your second photo should be deleted and a little photo shoot may be in order. And when you do it, try to remember to

I agree that the second picture should be removed. You should also indicate in the last picture which one is you, some people may not be sure despite the first picture.

I don't really understand your passion section. What does helping from a policy perspective mean?

You also have a typo in your book section - extend should be extent.

How do you look clean shaven? I think you should get a friend to take all new pictures of yourself. None of the pictures you posted show your personality. Take pictures with better scenery not just in your kitchen or computer room. You should smile more.

Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely get rid of the second pic and revise my profile with the advice I've gotten.

It means that I try to help implement programs that will help people such as funding for schools or passing laws to help people. I'll probably rephrase that section.

I might shave my beard but I'm hesitant about it. I'll try putting up better photos.
