I agree. I get very nervous when I see those pics. I also dislike the "several times a week" options for drinking. I just am not in a place in my life where that's important to me, and I feel those men will think I'm boring, etc. And, likely, I am -- but who has time to drink several times a week?
I agree with the OP that a little bit of effort put into a profile tends to translate (at least in our interpretation) into a little bit of effort into a courtship.

Not to be judgemental......But I guess I just hope that if a guy is paying money and is serious about finding the love of his life, he would have someone take a decent, non-controversial photo of him to post on his profile. I get that guys aren't usually camera happy, but if you can't put a little effort out to have decent pictures (no alcohol, no scantly clad women, few fish) then I just wonder how much effort they would be willing to put out in a relationship. I think that's a reasonable expectation.
These are your opinions. I have had long term relationships. I have had plenty of contacts. My friends all like to go out and drink. When I was in a serious relationship we all went out as couples and did things like Karaoke, going to baseball games, concerts, dinner, haunted hay rides , ski trips and we would drink while doing these activities. You are differant than me and my friends and that is ok but I don't know why you have to think you are better than us. I surely dont' think I am better than anyone else.

I do not post photos of me with fish. I don't fish. But if the guy fishes all the time I think it is good for you to know that. Perhaps you will pass on him because you don't want that. Just like if see a woman put her favorite band is Nickelback I will pass on her because I don't want to hear Nickelback for the rest of my life. Do you think it ever helps a woman to put "Eat, Pray, Love" is her favorite book? I don't think so but a ton women do so. But at least you know what you are in for if you date her.

I don't think it's always an issue of time or money or effort. Especially for men, it can be difficult to admit you're on eHarmony, and when you ask a friend to take a picture of you, the first thing they're going to ask is "why". Hence the avalanche of cell phone bathroom mirror poses or ex cropped out out the wedding pics shots.

As far as the drinking goes, the kind of environment where the cameras come out is also the kind where the alcohol comes out. That may be the only time someone takes a picture of him, short of his badge at work. I guarantee that's not going to be an attractive shot...

What I'm about to say is not a value judgment but fact.

Some of us will either have the stones to ask his buddy to take some clean photos, or will find the means to get a classy-looking shot in our profiles. I have no problem asking my guy friends to do this, and they're glad to help out a buddy who needs a picture. But I also have the thought process needed to set up my camera on a timer shot. It's really not that difficult to do.

Others won't have such confidence or determination.

It remains to be seen who gets the most responses. I'm guessing those of us who have the clean pictures will have more responses from the typical eH female subscriber.

Again, not value judgment but fact.

There is no logic behind the inferences that you make from viewing those photos.

You are free to be illogical though.
