Please take a look at my information and give me some honest feedback. I have done e-harmony off and on for a couple of years now without any real success. I've never gotten a date from the site and have only talked on the phone with a handful of matches.

One I became friends with. There was no romantic chemistry. I stopped chatting with another match when I realized he was lying to me about his age. One match just abruptly stopped communication with me. I have no idea why. Things seemed to be going well. And there was one match that I just felt no connection with after our initial phone call, so it didn't go beyond that.

Here's my profile info:

The one thing I am most passionate about:

I really want to achieve a great level of success. I feel like this will lay a foundation that any kids I have in the future will be able to build upon. I want them to be able to look at me as an example of what you can accomplish with hard work. I also want them to have opportunities that I never did, so I guess my passion is improving the lot of my family for future generations.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:

I want a partner with a kind and loving heart.

Basic Information

Occupation: I'm a media rep.

Age 34

Height 5' 3"

Wants Kids: Yes

Kids at Home: No

Ethnicity African-American

Religion: Christian

Drinks: A few times a year

Smokes: Never

The most influential person in my life has been:

I cannot limit this to just one person. My whole extended family has shown me so much love and support. Just knowing they were there often helped me make it through difficult times.

The three things which I am most thankful for:

My family --- My family has always been there to love and support me and that's made a world of difference in my life.
My health --- I've been very blessed to be healthy throughout my life.
My friends --- I have a small group of friends that I can count on to be supportive.

Three of my best life-skills are:

Using humor to make friends laugh
Remaining calm yet resilient during a crisis
Managing my finances

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

I'm tough

The things I can't live without are:

my God
my family
my friends
my books
my music

The first thing people notice about me:

I'm funny.

Some additional information I want you to know:

I'm a nice woman who just wants to meet a man who shares the same qualities. Even if we don't star in the next eHarmony commercial, hopefully, we can be friends.

I typically spend my leisure time:

reading, writing, ballroom dancing, watching sports (Go Tar Heels, Go Steelers)

The last book I read and enjoyed:

The Brief, Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. is a coming-of-age novel about a young man who's a Dominican-American. He's nerdy and doesn't fit in with his peers or his family. Diaz's voice is so strong. The characters jump off the page. It was an insightful, fun read.

My friends describe me as:

Funny
Kind
Articulate
Intelligent

To me this seems a bit disjointed.

You start off with you are most passionate about "achieving a great level of success." First off that is extremely vague. Does this mean you want to throw yourself into a career and get rich?

Then you talk mostly about wanting the other person to be kind and caring, and also talking in depth about family being important.

I don't know what you want in life, or how you plan to get there.

I would talk more about what it is that defines success for you, and what you intend to do to become successful. Either that, or scrap the first part and write something else.

Thanks for your response. In the coming days, I plan to revise my profile, and you've given me some interesting things to consider.

I didn't realize that people would immediately think finances when I used the word success. That is one way to be successful definitely, but it's not exactly what I had in mind. When I hear that word, I think of my grandmother who left behind a powerful legacy about how you should treat other people. She died when I was in the 8th grade, but her words and actions still resonate with my family to this day. However, the world would never have characterized her as rich.

Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

This profile is incredibly vague. I get absolutely no idea of who you are or what your life is like.

Please check out other profile reviews. You'll see that people generally react favorably to actual answers to the questions. Talk about specific things and don't write essays. When you are asked for "one thing", don't say "I can't name just one". Answer what you are asked.

Your "passion" answer needs to talk about something specific that you do, or that you are. You have given a non-answer. Suppose your best friend was trying to get a guy to ask you out. What ONE thing would he/she be sure to mention? That's what you need to talk about here. Using conversational language that the reader might imagine you saying to them across a table. (No essays.)

I don't think it is back to the drawing board at all. You just need to clarify what you mean. The answer you gave here is great, too wordy for a profile, but use that theme in your passion answer.

Ok, Savman, I know you said I didn't need to go back to the drawing board, but that's just what I've done. I completely changed my passion answer. I just think it was too hard for anyone to understand. Tell me what you about my new answer.

The one thing I am most passionate about:

The arts. I love literature. There's nothing like sitting down with a good book and feeling like you've been transported to another world. I also love to write. That's something I do both professionally and in in my personal life. I love music... everything from classical to gospel to pop to jazz and even some hip hop. Seeing an artist you love perform live is just an incredible feeing. I've seen everyone from Prince to Kenny Rogers to Wynton Marsalis. I love dancing. I recently started taking ballroom dance classes, and performing something like an intricate tango or an elegant foxtrot just does something for my soul.

I also changed this response.

The most influential person in my life has been:

I'm going to say my family as a whole. My immediate and extended family has shown me so much love and support. Just knowing they were there often helped me make it through difficult times.

(I realize I'm still fudging this one, but I really can't limit it to just one person)

This is another change.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

I'm tough. Don't let my petite stature fool you. I'm stronger than I look both physically and emotionally.

And I changed this one, I really want to mix things up.

The first thing people notice about me:

I'm funny. My sense of humor is unique, and it's something most of my friends like about me.

I would appreciate feedback from anyone who's willing to share. Thanks in advance.

Your additional stuff on I'm tough....... absolutely outstanding.

I also like that you have a fun unique sense of humor.

The passion one: This one is tough. It is the biggest one to me, and the first one people see, and tough to get right. I think you have it very near perfect. I really feel that answering the question "one thing" and so you pick something and then drill down from that to explain. This is pretty much what you did, so it is almost awesome. I feel like it is not connected very well, but I am not sure I have the literary skill to help you out. I will give it a shot and get back to you.

Whatever it is you do have passion, that is the important part.

For the "most influential person" question, I really liked what you wrote about your grandma up on post #3. I would use that instead of a generic "my family in general" answer.
