Well, I did it...I got tricked into actually paying for an EH membership again. It was $20 so I figured why not. So I finish my profile and upload a few photos, but figured out there apparently is no way to set them to private, which could be done when I made the mistake of joining this site two years ago.

For a "premium" online dating service, that seems like a pretty basic option we should all have. I have a public job and I'd prefer my photos not be seen by just anyone EH decides to match me with...which, to be honest, can be any random person within 100 miles apparently.

Even the free dating sites let you choose the people you let see your photos. Ugh, I hate EH. I shoulda flushed $20 away on lottery tickets.

Did you log into the same account/profile from 2 years ago, or did you create a new one?

Your old account/profile might be grandfathered to have those photo sharing settings..

You should still have the option of only showing your photos to those who also have photos.

I have some grandfathered in settings, so I can't tell you exactly what you should have.

No, I started a new account.
I suppose I will just delete this profile and cancel my subscription. I hate this place and should have known better...lol. Oh well, I have flushed $20 away before.

Do you think they have an algorithm for how often they have to send us a plausible match, to keep us coming back through their revolving door?

I would pay a big bucket of money if they'd send me another one just like the other one... They already have all our personality information; you think maybe they ration the matches that people like, on a triage system of who's likely to unsubscribe first, giving all gazillion of us a brief taste of the good stuff, just long enough for the hook to sink into our particular hide

You know.. I always wondered about that, it does seem I receive better matches just when my sub is about to expire..

Boy, I would hate to be you walking down the street!

What if someone saw your face?
What if they looked at your finger, and noticed no ring?
What if they put two and two together, and guessed you weren't married?

Oh! The Horror!!!

I am very glad that eH got rid of the option of hiding your Photos.

As a prospective Match, I don't really care if you feel that you deserve special treatment because you are "in a public job", unless in real life you walk around with a ski mask over your head as well.

I have my Photo posted, and I expect you to have the same.

The only way I would find hiding Photos acceptable, is if anyone hiding their Photos would not be allowed to see any Photos of ANY of their Matches until they stopped hiding their Photos.

EDIT: Wow, the OP is a guy. My opinion still stands. Stop playing games, and just show your Photo dude.

I agree with both trek and paintandbooks. I am convinced that EH have invested a lot of understanding into the psychology of subscribers than they have the "science" of matchmaking. This is all designed to make money, and if they give you all the "good" matches in your area all at once, then the most they would get from many people would be a one month membership.

I work in a high school. Don't ask me why, but students get on dating web sites. I'm sure several of their moms and older sisters and aunts are on them. I have heard students in the past talking about finding some school employee's profile on a dating web site and even printing out the profiles and taping them on walls/doors/lockers.
