I just redid my profile...can you all let me know what you think? Thanks!

The one thing I am most passionate about:
My passions in life seem to change on a regular basis, but I'd say right now my biggest passion is working to build my pop culture blog into a money maker so I don't have to work for the man anymore. I'm really committed to turn it into something successful, but even if I never become a featured "pop culturist" for Entertainment Weekly, I'm having fun doing it, which is really what it's all about.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is: I'm looking for someone who knows how to have a good time in a variety of situations, has a wide range of interests, and is as comfortable at a Titans game as they are at the Symphony.

The most influential person in my life has been:

I guess I'm the type that runs to the beat of her own drummer, so I really can't think of a person in my life that has been a great influence besides my parents. I've always been the type to do my own thing and blaze my own path in life.
The three things which I am most thankful for:

  • Knowing Jesus
  • Having the best family and friends imaginable
  • Surviving the 14 months I spent unemployed

Three of my best life-skills are:

  • Making art and culture an ongoing part of my life
  • Continuing to expand my knowledge and awareness
  • Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

I'm absolutely killer at trivia. Seriously, you want me on your team.

The things I can't live without are:

  • Quoting 30 Rock, SNL, The Jerk, or Zoolander
  • my TPAC season tickets
  • College basketball (especially UK--GO CATS!)
  • crossword puzzles (The City Paper is my favorite)
  • Finding things to do for free or really cheap

The first thing people notice about me:

I've never asked, but I would hope that people notice my friendly demeanor and non-assuming attitude. I'm always open to new experiences and meeting new people, and I hope that others notice that when they first meet me.

Some additional information I want you to know:

My life is never boring, and I'm looking for someone who can keep things interesting. I am excited to see where this leads and what happens next!

My interests

I typically spend my leisure time:

It really depends on my mood--I enjoy going out with my friends and exploring Nashville, checking out a movie or play, going to a Preds game or concert, but then again, there are nights I just like to lay low, pop some popcorn or pour a glass of wine and veg on the couch with my DVR, latest Netflix rental, or great book. I try to not do the same things too often.

The last book I read and enjoyed:

I love to read! Right now I'm reading "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" by Donald Miller. I really enjoy Miller's writing style and how his ideas make you think without being overly obvious.

The " I dont have to work for a man" is going to turn off quite a few men.

Combines with the trivia comment you come off as arrogant.

Stereotypically men are intimiadated enough with successful woman...but on top of that if they are arrogant about it and dont need men you will get very little response.

The only way you will get responses if your photos show you as being hot.

This may be way off base (from who you are) , but from the way your profile is written is comes across as :

1) Have trouble keeping a job because of #2(Working on blog, unemployment)

2) Flighty and unstable (Moods, passions etc. always changing, life is never boring)

3) Rebellious, (but not independent because of #1) hard to get along with (Do my own thing, blaze my own trail)

I have no idea if that represents you, but reading this profile, that's what comes to mind.

Although you sound fun and interesting in other parts, think about someone reading it and if it accurately represents you.

Good Luck, you do sound like a fun, adventurous person.

Personally I don't think this necessarily would raise red flags with the right match (the not wanting to work for "the Man", etc). I personally don't think you need the first part that your passions often change, but you could just make it concise by starting with "Right now...". I think your pop culturalist interest will capture the attention of particular matches.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is: I'm looking for someone who knows how to have a good time in a variety of situations, has a wide range of interests, and is as comfortable at a Titans game as they are at the Symphony.

I think this is good; it's a unique answer, and it offers examples that matches can identify with.

The most influential person in my life has been:

I guess I'm the type that runs to the beat of her own drummer, so I really can't think of a person in my life that has been a great influence besides my parents. I've always been the type to do my own thing and blaze my own path in life.

It may be true that you're independent, but you may still want to name one person (it's not always the case that there's always one person who's most influential). Then explain how this person changed you - what you observed or learned from them, and then how you incorporated that into your life.

The three things which I am most thankful for:

  • Knowing Jesus
  • Having the best family and friends imaginable
  • Surviving the 14 months I spent unemployed
I like this list because it's unique. I think you may want to come up with a different word than "unemployed" and spin it positively. For example, I've learned that I'm resourceful in difficult circumstances." Or something along those lines.

I like this because it is unique, too. It shows a little something about you.

I like this too -- it's nice and specific and it reveals your life style and some values.

The first thing people notice about me:

I've never asked, but I would hope that people notice my friendly demeanor and non-assuming attitude. I'm always open to new experiences and meeting new people, and I hope that others notice that when they first meet me.

I like this as it speaks of your positive qualities, something you have to offer in a relationship.

Some additional information I want you to know:

My life is never boring, and I'm looking for someone who can keep things interesting. I am excited to see where this leads and what happens next!

I think that the phrase "my life is never boring" might give matches too much room to interpret. Is there a way you could word it so that it's definitely a positive? Some people (unfortunately) may read "drama" into this.

I think this is nice -- it's specific, and it's not a list, it's interesting to read.

The last book I read and enjoyed:

I love to read! Right now I'm reading "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" by Donald Miller. I really enjoy Miller's writing style and how his ideas make you think without being overly obvious.

This is really nice -- you might add a little layer to it by describing how it's impacted you personally.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Thanks all! I appreciate your help. #2, I definitely wasn't trying to come across as arrogant, just was trying to show that I'm a trivia buff and enjoy it. And I put quotes around "the man" in the first question, so that no one thinks I am saying I don't have to work for a man. I'm talking about the figurative "man".

#3, the adjectives you used to describe me couldn't be more far off, so thank you for letting me know that my words could be construed that way. I've tried to change up my answers so that I don't appear that way to anyone.

#4, thank you for your constructive criticism and reminding me that some people will understand what I'm trying to say. I made the changes you suggested and hope I'll have better luck!
