(first post be nice to a noob lol)
Where's a good place to throw out suggestions at for eHarmony?

Let me share a little about my experience. I did a paid account for 6 months, and went through quite some hell with all my matches, it was rare when I'd get communications back from matches, except for a few small occasions when one would message me first, and we'd end up going on a date. Those all didn't go past the first 1-3 dates. Heck I was on the verge of giving up on dating all together, I started internalizing things eventually and thinking it was all me. I ran all the facts of the situations by a professional psychiatrist, he told me quite plainly... I think these women all did you a tremendous favor by not continuing anything lol. (Did I mention one of them tried to scam me for $5k so she could move to Australia?)

One thing I noticed is they were all very passive and I think they wanted a much more dominant guy, and honestly, I want a much more aggressive woman when I'm totally honest with myself. Intelligence and creativity definitely have to be there too, as well as caring and open-mindedness. Well so the other day I redid the questionnaire, and now my matches communicate with me, it's a WHOLE world better than it was before. Think I may want to redo it one more time to tweak some things b/c my matches seem to all want someone who is extremely busy b/c they want a lot of personal time and I'm not always THAT busy. I think with a little tweaking I could get this down to a science.

Anyway, so on to the suggestion...

I think it would be nicer if they would include those kind of parameters within the settings on eHarmony itself without having to ask to redo the whole questionnaire. I was just lucky to have a friend who was using eHarmony suggest that I ask for a redo, she redoes hers fairly often as things change in her life, sounds like a plan to me, I kind of thought I was just stuck with it as is originally. I think it would be nicer too if the questionnaire was a little more straight forward in how it matches. You know... like the questions on how much of a leader you are vs. a follower, well I kind of thought of that originally in a work related context not so much in a relationship context, things like that, so I wonder how many other people do the same thing. It would be cool too if each match would kind of give you a break-down summary of how they evaluate on each of the 29 dimensions they use. Heck they could even do that as a "premium" feature if they had to I'd pay for it!

Who's with me on this one? lol

First to answer your question on how to make suggestions to eHarmony. There is a thread (or board) on here somewhere where you can make suggestions to the product development team on improving the site. I am not sure where that is so I cannot provide the link. Maybe one of the moderators or VCLs will provide that link. Another method would be to send a message to one of the moderators (eHarmony Advice Host) Kate, Renee or Lori as they will pass suggestions along.

Your complaints of lack of communication is a common one. Most of your matches are going to be non-paying members who can't reply. Most non-paying members are also non-active. It is also very rare that when you do have a "live" match and get to the first date that it will progress past the first date.

As for wondering how you match up on the 29 Dimensions of Compatibility. Once you are in Open Communication with a match you could ask to share your Personality Profiles. However, EVERY match that you get will be compatible with you on the 29 Dimensions of Compatibility. How compatible you are is of course dependent on both you and your match having been honest in answering the Questionnaire. Also being "compatible" with your match does not mean that you will feel any "chemistry" OR that your match will feel any "chemistry".

There was, but it was shut down and never brought back despite a promise to do so.

Hi BitRunner,

Welcome to eHarmony Advice!

I’m sorry that you had a negative first experience with eHarmony and that one of your matches asked you for money. Please know that we encourage you to report such a match to our Match Concerns team at matchconcerns@eharmony.com.

I do want to say that even though you went through a tremendous amount of disappointment with the first round, I’m happy to know that you noted improvement when you retook the Relationship Questionnaire.

With the Questionnaire, I know that retaking it too frequently actually isn’t allowed. You may have taken it a long time ago and so our Customer Care team could justify having you retake it – in fact, if it’s been a long while, retaking the Relationship Questionnaire is highly encouraged. Sometimes a Customer Care representative will actually suggest retaking it if it’s been a long time.

Just something that I’ve learned about the Relationship Questionnaire and how it works – if you fill out the questions in such a way that you’re trying to get certain types of matches, you’ll probably have less luck than you would by just filling it out just with your gut-honest answer. It can actually backfire otherwise.

As for making a suggestion, creating a topic is probably one of the best things to do. You can always invite one of the moderators (me, Renee, or Lori) into the discussion by letting us know about it through a private message.

That said, I’m passing along your topic as feedback to our product team.

All the best,

~Kate

Kate,

Off the original topic, but a tangent of the subject, what ever happened to the product feedback threads from earlier this year? We had them for a couple of months and then they were shut down with a promise of them returning. It seems like that was a good catchall way to reach the Product Team, assuming they were actually interested in hearing meaningful feedback from the people that use the service.

The perception I walk away with is because they're gone and because there was virtually no interaction with the now dormant Product Team account, there's really no desire for anything beyond "Yay eHarmony!"

Hi MicMan,

I don’t think there was a time-frame on their coming back (not that I’m aware of), but they’re still taking all the feedback we present. So please don’t stop making suggestions, it’s being taken seriously.
