Hi - Thanks for all the great advice! Here is the updated form after taking it all into consideration. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks again!

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

My best friend has helped to make me who I am today. I have and always will be a cautious person, but through him, I have become a more adventurous and life-loving person than I ever would have been. I would never have had the experience of living and working in Yosemite if it weren't for him. Not because of any direct correlation, but simply because I would have chosen a different path in life earlier on.
We are molded by those who surround us, and he has greatly influenced who I have become. He is a wonderful friend.

What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?

I am looking for someone to fall in love and share my life with. I want someone I can connect with. Some traits I look for include silly, soft, friendly, flirtatious, loving personalities. I want someone who will enjoy staying healthy and active outdoors (hiking, skiing, biking, backpacking) throughout life, but also loves to just cuddle up on the couch and enjoy the moment.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?

My friendly, and genuine disposition.

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?

I have a subtle sense of humor, which will come out as I become more comfortable. I also love to laugh and smile and tease, but again, it might not come out so much until I get comfortable with you.

What are five things that you "can't live without?"

Wilderness
Cooking, including my famous home-made pizza! ;-)
Hiking / backpacking adventures
Skiing
Snowshoeing adventures

Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?

I'm currently reading East of Eden, and although it isn't terribly fast paced, the story is intriguing. The characters are interesting, and the story has good depth.

I also recently read "A Walk in the Woods" by Bryson, and found it to be quite funny. He wasn't a particularly skillful backpacker, but I guess that is what makes it a fun read. I had a bear pull this book out of my backpack at night, and now I have teeth marks through the picture of the bear on the cover! I wonder if it was a relative?! haha

Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?

I'm enjoying life.
I took a break from teaching to follow my dream of being a park ranger, and I'm glad I did! I can't imagine the idea of missing out on so many amazing experiences in Yosemite these past 4 years!! Experiences which have helped shape me into a better person. I'm looking to remain a Park Ranger, but I'd prefer a year-round gig. The Bay Area offers that, and I'm confident that my experience in Yosemite will help get me the job.

My educational background includes a BA in Environmental Education and two teaching credentials: Multiple Subject and Physical Education.
I also taught Adults with Disabilities for two years

What are you most passionate about?

I am passionate about travel and what it offers. I love to see new cultures and sample the regional foods. I’d love to follow my parent’s tracks and use biking as an excuse to travel. What a great way to see the world! Another form of travel, hiking/backpacking, is a great way to experience what many people go an entire lifetime without seeing…. the wilderness in our own backyards! It is so awesome to get away from the crowds and traffic… to be able to actually see the stars at night, or swim in a remote mountain lake. So amazing!

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?

1. I am thankful for the opportunity to spend the past four summers of my life as a Park Ranger in beautiful Yosemite National Park. I've been given a wonderful opportunity to explore and enjoy Yosemite in a way very few people can.

2. I'm thankful for the opportunities I have had to travel. Prague and the Czech Republic, Vienna, Copenhagen, Malaysia, Hawaii, cross-country driving trips... It has all been amazing.

3. I am most thankful for my parents, who have always been so supportive and caring and worked so hard to give my brother and me such wonderful memories. I'm thankful for my brother, his wife and my two nieces. They are two wonderful girls who are so intelligent and fun to spend time with.

How do you typically spend your leisure time?

Hiking and backpacking are a passion of mine, but because I do this for my job in the summer season, I tend to relax on my off days. I enjoy pretty much whatever seems most relaxing at the time. If I just got back from Wilderness patrol, I'll stay in and enjoy the A/C and have some wine. If not, then I might go to the river for a swim or to sit and read a book. Not a bad life. Come up and join me on the trail or at the river!

The one thing that jumps out to me......it gives me the impression you are living in part off of mom and dad.

also do you have other interests outside of wilderness other than hiking and camping? what do you do for fun in the winter other than the snow sports you mentioned?

do you want to become the unabomber (without the bombing part)?

Very well written profile, however extremely one dimensional.

If hiking/camping/wilderness is all that you are about, then it reflects you well. However, if there is more to you than that, you might want to seriously rethink your profile. Quite frankly it's redundant.

Also, be careful with the length of it. Long profiles are tedious to read. More is not better, especially when you are just repeating the same thing over and over. Keep in mind that to your match, you may be the 7th profile she is reading today and she is tired. When she sees a wall of text she may well put you aside. The problem with that is that tomorrow there will be another set of new matches to look at and you'll get stuck in the no man's land of to be dealt with later. Unfortunately, later never comes.

Overall great profile:
3 things:
1) Count how many times the words "Park" and "Yosemite" are mentioned

2)As others mentioned,... a bit lengthy,... edit,... especially the living in the past Yosemite thing

3) Mentioning being unemployed is strange. Say what you do, not what you are not doing or used to do.

I think its a good profile, but a tad wordy...
I'd trim it down a bit...you've got plenty to chew on...no need to go overboard.

Keep all the stuff in the most passionate part..the "books read" stuff is fine, also, but...trim down the "most important quality in another person" and also the "3 things section"...as these shouldn't be laundry lists, (sometimes less, is more.)

Overall, though, very interesting, and well done.

I wanted to tell you this, just because I thought it was interesting...
after I read your profile and made my comment...I looked at your profile here..and I noticed you were male, not female!...(which is the impression I got, after reading your profile)
dunno why...
I can't explain it...

That may not mean anything, but I thought I'd tell you that.
It's still a good profile.
