Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

My best friend has helped to make me who I am today. I have and always will be a cautious person, but through hum, I have become a more adventurous and life-loving person than I ever would have been without him. I would never have had the experience of living and working in Yosemite if it weren't for him. Not because of any direct correlation, but simply because I would have chosen a different path in life earlier on.
We are molded by those whom surround us, and he has greatly influenced who I have become. He is a wonderful friend.

What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?

I am looking for someone to fall in love and share my life with. I want someone I can connect with. Some traits I look for include silly, soft, friendly, flirtatious, loving personalities. I also want someone who wants to stay active outdoors (hiking, skiing, biking, backpacking), but also loves to just cuddle up on the couch and enjoy the moment. Ultimately, I want to fall in love with someone whom I can enjoy staying fit, active, and healthy with throughout life.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?

I'm not really sure, but I would hope that they notice my friendly, and genuine disposition.

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?

blank

What are five things that you "can't live without?"

Friends and family
Wilderness
Cooking, including my famous home-made pizza! ;-)

Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?

I'm currently reading East of Eden, and although it isn't terribly fast paced, the story is intriguing. The characters are interesting, and the story has good depth.

I also recently read "A Walk in the Woods" by Bryson, and found it to be quite funny. He wasn't a particularly skillful backpacker, but I guess that is what makes it a fun read. I had a bear pull this book out of my backpack at night, and now I have teeth marks through the picture of the bear on the cover! I wonder if it was a relative?! haha

Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?

I'm enjoying life.
I don't have my career rolling right now, but don't regret that at all. If I had been stuck behind a desk all these years, I would have missed out on so many amazing experiences in Yosemite these past 4 years!! Those experiences have helped shape me into a better person.

My educational background includes a BA in Environmental Education, and two teaching credentials: Multiple Subject for Elementary School, and Physical Education.
I also taught Adults with Disabilities for two years.

What are you most passionate about?

I love to cook, and also love to go out and try new foods. Hiking is something I love as well... Visiting quiet off trail destinations which few people know about is something I find really special. My favorite being a beautiful lake that sees fewer than 10 people each year! There's nothing quite like taking a swim in a remote mountain lake, and drying off in the sun on a warm slab of granite! I also love coming back from a trip to a hot shower, real meal, and a comfy bed. It's great to go out, and great to come back!

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?

1. I am thankful for the opportunity to spend the past four summers of my life in beautiful Yosemite National Park. I'm thankful for the chance to spend two of those years as a volunteer Park Ranger at an obscure, secluded lake in the company of a small, close-knit community of wonderful friends. I am also thankful for the opportunity to work these past two summers as a Wilderness Park Ranger stationed out of Yosemite Valley. I've been given a wonderful opportunity to explore and enjoy Yosemite in a way very few people can.

2. I'm thankful for the opportunities I have had to travel. Seeing other locations and cultures has been an eye-opening and amazing experience. Prague and the Czech Republic, Vienna, Copenhagen, Malaysia, Hawaii, cross-country driving trips throughout the states... It has all been amazing.

3. I am most thankful for my family. I'm thankful for my parents, who have always been so supportive and caring and worked so hard to give my brother and I such wonderful memories when growing up as a child. I'm thankful for my brother, his wife and my two nieces. they are two wonderful girls who are so intelligent and fun to spend time with. I'm thankful for my best friend, who has always been there for me.

The four things your friends say about you are:

Sweet
Caring
Respectful
Genuine

Three of my best life-skills are:

Being a good friend and companion
Keeping physically fit
Cooking for my family and friends

How do you typically spend your leisure time?

Hiking and backpacking are a passion of mine, but because I do this for my job in the summer season, I tend to relax on my off days. I enjoy pretty much whatever seems most relaxing at the time. If I just got back from Wilderness patrol, I'll stay in and enjoy the A/C and have some wine. If not, then I might go to the river for a swim or to sit and read a book. Not a bad life. Come up and join me on the trail or at the river!

I really like this answer! It speaks of a stability in your relationships as well as personal growth. I don't know if you need the last paragraph, because I think that what you said in it is sort of implicit in the rest.

I like this too, as it's specific and descriptive of the type of relationship and the type of person that you're looking for. I do think that you might be able to trim it, as you stated the "active" trait in a few different ways -- you might be able to put that all into one sentence and shorten it for better readability.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?

I'm not really sure, but I would hope that they notice my friendly, and genuine disposition.

I don't think you need the "I'm not really sure" part, even if you're not sure how you come across to everyone. I think what follows is nice and probably true (that people perceive you as friendly and genuine).

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?

blank

This doesn't have to be something you go around wishing people knew about you, but just try to think of some great quality you'd have to offer in a relationship that may not be apparent on the first few meetings. For example, maybe you are an excellent fix-it person, or you like to give personal gifts on special occasions. Whatever it is, it's not a first-meeting kind of thing.

What are five things that you "can't live without?"

Friends and family
Wilderness
Cooking, including my famous home-made pizza! ;-)

I think this is a great start -- especially "Wilderness" and "Cooking...". Since you've mentioned friends and family elsewhere, this space is an opportunity to get other fun information about yourself out there. Of course it doesn't have to be literally "what you can't live without", but think of luxuries that are special to you which others may not value as much. When you get detailed, you could actually capture the attention of more matches.

Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?

I'm currently reading East of Eden, and although it isn't terribly fast paced, the story is intriguing. The characters are interesting, and the story has good depth.

I had a bear pull this book out of my backpack at night, and now I have teeth marks through the picture of the bear on the cover! I wonder if it was a relative?! haha

I like this answer, especially the second part -- that actually might be enough. You could also add how it affected or impacted you personally. I like the fun story! That's a little scary, actually.

You may want to change the wording of this, although I really like your attitude about it. You might want to say you've been taking a break with experiences at Yosemite and you are seeking a vocation in ____(the areas you mentioned), or something to that effect. Your matches may be more likely to contact you if there is a sense of confidence and focus on your vocational path.

This is a hard question, it's often tough to figure out how to answer it. I think what you have is good information, but it might fit better under the "leisure time" question. This article might help give you some ideas on what kinds of things to write:

I like all of these -- but do they fit into the spaces? They seem a little lengthy for this question (usually people are pretty brief here). You may want to abbreviate some of these, and try to keep the details that do set them apart from everyone's universal experiences. For example, you have details about your family and why they are special. That kind of information is good to include in some fashion.

Hi YNP (so ... that's Yosemite National Park, eh?) -- I love your profile. It's unique, which is good -- you've stayed away from generic answers and it gives a good view into who you are. It's also fun to read and interesting, and it's very inviting.

A few comments below ... good luck with your search! and welcome to EHAdvice.

Be careful about typos, grammar, spelling. A lot of people react negatively to these kinds of mistakes in profiles.

I am looking for someone to fall in love and share my life with. I want someone I can connect with. Some traits I look for include silly, soft, friendly, flirtatious, loving personalities. Ultimately, I want to fall in love with someone with whom I can enjoy staying fit, active, and healthy [delete] throughout life. (correct for readability). Also an unusually good answer.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?

I'm not really sure, but I would hope that they notice my friendly, and genuine disposition.

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?

blank Don't leave sections blank. This is an opportunity to get a match's attention and you're wasting it!

What are five things that you "can't live without?"

Friends and family
Wilderness
Cooking, including my famous home-made pizza! ;-)

Five things are asked for, not 3. Above are good answers though.

Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?

I'm currently reading East of Eden, and although it isn't terribly fast paced, the story is intriguing. The characters are interesting, and the story has good depth.

I completely love your bear story!! great answer. The question only asks for 1 book but I like you including 2, because it shows you read literature as well as outdoors stuff, and I'm guessing reading matters to you.

A match is going to wonder what "I don't have a career rolling right now" means. Are you a flake? Do you never work? etc. I'm not sure you need to include this paragraph.

My educational background includes a BA in Environmental Education, and two teaching credentials: Multiple Subject for Elementary School, and Physical Education.
I also taught Adults with Disabilities for two years. Perhaps add something like "I am currently looking for a teaching job in xxx" or "I've decided to go into the Park Service so am looking for a Ranger job", or whatever, if you want to give the info about your job status? (instead of the paragraph above).
