It seems that a lot of the men who want to communicate with me on eH are men that I archived immediately after reading their profiles. I have had several good, long-term relationships in my life but when it comes to meeting guys online or out in public, I attract exactly whom I DON'T want. The guys that I think are close to perfect matches for me - well, it never seems to go very far. I'm pretty level-headed when it comes to choosing someone I want to communicate with; it's not like I'm trying for guys who are are clearly out of my league. What gives?

KrisD- you have to close them. If you archive them, they can request communication.

eH set up the archive thing so you can give people a chance if you are on the fence about them.

Unfortunately, to CLOSE THEM, you have to archive them, then go into archive and close them.

This is annoying to many people on here, but eH hasn't changed it.

So, if you are really sure that they are not for you - close them. Or wait until they request communication - then close them.

I do not like the "archive" feature. I would like eH to go back to the days of "closing" a match and get rid of the archive option.

Usually your gut feeling of not being into someone's profile is the correct one. When you think about it too much, you end up convincing yourself to give someone a chance even though you aren't attracted...which basically wastes both your time and their time.

I am going to risk sounding like a jerk, but honestly its like ole Albert put it “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" maybe you should rethink your parameters

...or actually talk and meet some of these archived guys who are contacting you...... Then again....it's probably more fun to leap to wild conclusions about people based on virtually zero knowledge and then complain about how you are dateless and just can't find anyone......

Yes it is that extra step that has the problem that the OP is complaining about.

There is no penalty for leaving matches that you are not sure if you want to communicate with in your New folder. There is no penalty for leaving matches that you have sent First Questions to in your Communicating folder. If you are not interested in a match there is no reason to "archive" them, just close them.

Am I allowed to complain about being "dateless and just can't find anyone" because few of my matches respond?
