Wow!!! I've been new to all the dating sites and I'm finally figuring out some of these acronyms. Just in case anyone else was wondering....

GC = eHarmony's 'Guided Communication', not a Guidance Counselor

OC = eHarmony's onsite 'Open Communication', not Orange County

FCW or FCE = eHarmony's 'Free Communication Weekend' or 'Event' when non-paying members are allowed limited communication with matches.

FWB = I always thought was 'Fat White Boy' but for dating, it's 'Friends with Benefits'... you know, getting a little intimate with someone who remains just a friend.

BBW = 'Big Beautiful Woman' not 'Big Black Woman'

DWM or DWF = Divorced White Male or Female
SBF or SWF = Single Black Female or White Female. you get the idea

NSA = Sounds governmental, as in 'National Security Administration' but it's really 'No Strings Attached'. I'm not sure how this differs from FWB other than maybe you're not even friends later...

LTR = Long Term Relationship

LDR = Long Distance Relationship

LTAS = eHarmony's 'Let's Talk About Sex' Group

CSC = eHarmony's 'Completely Stupid Conversations' group

eH = eHarmony, of course!

eHA = eHarmony Advice... where you are NOW!!!

Some common ones used here a lot...

OP = Original Poster... the person who started the thread.

TMI = Too much information... we really don't need to know about your vasectomy, etc.

IMO or IMHO = In My Opinion or Humble Opinion

ETA = Edited to Add (no, we won't be arriving on your doorstep)

IRL or RL = In Real Life

YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary, things might go differently for you.

FWIW = For what it's worth

IME = In My Experience

Did I miss any of the more common ones?

LOL! You hit all the ones I could think of. Loved the color commentary, too!

IRL - in real life, as opposed to online.

Oh, I guess I would add:

IMO - In My Opinion
IMHO - In My Humble Opinion
ETA - Edited To Add

I use those a bunch & see them around fairly frequently. Took me a long time to figure out "edited to add!"

But those are just cyber lingo, not dating-site specific.

YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary, meaning "your experience might be a bit different from mine..."

Eons ago, back when the Internetz was new, I thought YMMV meant "you make me vomit" which caused some hard feelings until the misunderstanding was cleared up...

Yeah, but technically, so is IRL.

Also, I never saw anyone use ETA or YMMV until I came here. Just different acronyms used more heavily in different areas of the 'Net, you know? So I figured it couldn't hurt.

Me, too! I think I finally looked it up somewhere one day, and then I was like, "Ohhh!"
