Basic Information

Occupation: University Admin Age 56 Height 5' 10"
- OR -
177 cm. Wants Kids: No Kids at Home: No
Ethnicity White, non-Hispanic Religion: Spiritual, but not religious Drinks: About once a week Smokes: Never

In my own words

The most influential person in my life has been:

My Aunty Erica - I saw her lose her hearing, survive a horrific car accident, survive breast cancer only to have it metasticize into her jaw. She is the strongest person I know and never lost her belief, her faith, or her humour. She always had time for people, and loved people. I was honoured to have her as a mentor.

The three things which I am most thankful for:

  • The ability to able to start over when I turned 50.
  • My son and an incredible support network.
  • Living in White Rock.

Three of my best life-skills are:

  • Using humour to make friends laugh
  • Continuing to expand my knowledge and awareness
  • Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

That I'm just perfect the way I am ... seriously ... I wish people would notice that what you see is what you get - no games, no lies, no dramatics, just a normal, everyday, lady.

The things I can't live without are:

  • Family and friends
  • A book to lose myself in
  • To be able to live so close to the ocean.
  • My optimism
  • To be literal - my health

The first thing people notice about me:

That I listen well and pay attention to what people are saying to me.

Some additional information I want you to know:

I am tall for a lady so if you prefer someone short, tiny and svelte, I'm not the woman for you. I am not looking for perfection; nor am I perfect - the joy will be meeting someone to accept, and who will accept, me for who we are.

My interests

I typically spend my leisure time:

What spare time? Currently taking a university course on Canadian Business; belong to a Book Club; Sundays are coffee and a walk at Crescent Beach; hanging out with 3 cousins and getting into mischief.

The last book I read and enjoyed:

Glass Castle which is a true story about a woman who grew up in abject poverty in the US and how she coped; everyone sould read this book to gain perspective. 3 cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson - I highly recommend it as a good read for men and women alike; about one man's humanitarian efforts to enable women in Afghanistan and Pakistan to become educated. I read Marley and Me. I tend to read a 'seriouser' book, then something light, and repeat ! Sometimes I have more than one book on the go.

According to my friends:

My friends describe me as:

  • Kind
  • Articulate
  • Perceptive
  • Intelligent

Hi Annie. Some comments in red and some things to consider rewording / editing in blue.

Some thing to consider, looking from the outside : In general, fill out all the sections with brief , fun and lively info about yourself.

More specifically, this is a dating profile to introduce yourself and hopefully attract a man. This is not the place to elaborate on ( very defensive sounding) self-acceptance themes.

Most men will view your photo, decide if they find it attractive, then read the profile.

A lot can be done regarding photos: Peering through reading glasses is aging, post some without.

Same outfit, setting, sightly different angle doesn't say much. Unknown arm in photo , would reconsider that.

In my own words
Fill this part out

The most influential person in my life has been:

My Aunty Erica - I saw her lose her hearing, survive a horrific car accident, survive breast cancer only to have it metasticize into her jaw. She is the strongest person I know and never lost her belief, her faith, or her humour. She always had time for people, and loved people. I was honoured to have her as a mentor. Great, but please leave out the medical graphic details.
The three things which I am most thankful for:

  • The ability to able to start over when I turned 50.
  • My son and an incredible support network.
  • Living in White Rock.

Three of my best life-skills are:

  • Using humour to make friends laugh

Sounds not only defensive, but rigid, stuck and closed minded. Of course we all want to be accepted for who we are

The things I can't live without are:

  • Family and friends
  • A book to lose myself in
  • To be able to live so close to the ocean.Mentioned before
  • My optimism
  • To be literal - my health Makes you sound so much older than 56

The first thing people notice about me:

That I listen well and pay attention to what people are saying to me.

Some additional information I want you to know:

I am tall for a lady so if you prefer someone short, tiny and svelte, I'm not the woman for you. I am not looking for perfection; nor am I perfect - the joy will be meeting someone to accept, and who will accept, me for who we are.

All of this is unnecessary, they can see from your profile and photos your height, weight and appearance, all this comes across as extremely insecure dressed up as "I like me who I am"

You went over all this defensiveness about my-way-or-the-highway before. There is a repeated theme of "I am what I am...I don't budge...like it or lump it".

The point here is to attract someone which means being open. Between your lines one could read defensiveness, fear of rejection and huge walls piled up to that end

What could a potential match enjoy with you?

The last book I read and enjoyed:

Glass Castle which is a true story about a woman who grew up in abject poverty in the US and how she coped; everyone sould read this book to gain perspective. 3 cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson - I highly recommend it as a good read for men and women alike; about one man's humanitarian efforts to enable women in Afghanistan and Pakistan to become educated. It a dating site not a ladies book club
