OK, I have a question for the guys out there. I get a lot of guys who send "must have good hygiene" as one of their Must Have's and Can't Stands. It makes me curious: where is this coming from? I am not taking it personal, I am just really baffled. Are there that many stinky girls out there? Maybe I am misinterpreting this item, but I shower at least once a day, brush my teeth at least twice, and always clean up before a date. Are there a lot of smelly women out there? Or are you guys actually doing this for a specific reason that is maybe not obvious to me? Appreciate your info and happy dating!

I interpret hygiene as shaving (legs, armpits, treasure trail, rear side and especially the face); thinning the guy-brows; flossing and fresh breath. That's why I've used it as a must have. Yes, some women slack in the hygiene department.

I've never dated anyone who had issues with not wearing deodorant.

Smelly women out there? Perhaps some women overcompensate. When you can smell a woman's perfume from over the dinner table, it's too much.

I have to admit that I'm equally curious - it's completely strange how many men have hygiene listed as a must have - something I pretty much take for granted that people have under control....especially women....one would think...... Hope more men respond to this.

I have gotten that and it made me wonder as well, was the last guy they were with a total pig?

Maybe they just checked the totally obvious, without giving it much thought.

To me it is obvious, but since you ask: Good grooming, nice smelling.

I do notice clothes and environment. If someone's home or car is filled with junk, filthy, messy , even if she looks pristine, it would be a turned off

Since you *must* select ten, I'd interpret that as "I ran out of items I wanted to select and I needed an easy filler".

When I encounter this, it makes me wonder how many skanky women he slept w/ in order to select this one to include in his top ten must haves, which translates to instant turn off.

There's a reason why women don't select this and that's b/c we won't even consider sleeping w/ a man who is unhygenic.

I have it as a must have. That's what a must have means, right? I must have this in order to consider dating someone.

My mistake; since I was thinking and wrote unhygenic, I confused it and wrote can't stand. Thx; I'll edit my previous post.

Idk, but the Must Have's and Can't Stands seem kind of silly to me. I've never seen one that turned into a deal breaker, except maybe the religious ones.

I'm not the most organized or tidy guy, though I try, and when I'm just checking email in my 'around the house' attire, that Hygiene Must Have really hits the wrong way.

Don't women know that men NEED women to help them with the Hygiene skill? :P

I require clarification.

"Treasure trail"? I've understood this to be the lower belly area on a man. You date woman who shave there? Who need to shave there?

And "rear side"? huh? What? Women with back hair? Butt hair?

Granted, I'm not a particularly hairy person - but I do go to the gym and while I see way more hairy pits than I care to I've never seen another woman with a shave-worthy back or belly...
