I have been a member of eHarmony for about 8 months total and got an average of 5 matches/day. Ever since I used the promo code of $4.95 for six months, there have barely been 5 matches for the entire month! I am starting to think that EH has slowed my matches because of the low price for 6 months. Has anyone else had this problem?

There is no rhyme or reason, it's more inexplicable than the chaos theory.

Interesting theory that they slow down your matches as punishment for using the discount.

The free ones may actually get the most, as more of an enticement to sign up.

When you sign up for eHarmony, you have a pool of matches; eHarmony releases some matches from the pool every day; as the pool shrinks, the number of matches you receive a day shrinks.

Turn off matching for a week or two and see if that helps.

Or, change some settings...

Thank you, wish I would have saved my $30.

The number of matches you receive goes in cycles. As mentioned when you first sign up there is a backlog of matches to send you. After you have gotten caught up on the existing matches, if you stay long enough you will notice that for a while you will get a lot of matches each day and then you will only get a few each month and then you will begin to get a lot of matches again.

Contrary to the conspiracy theorists it has to do with people and not something eHarmony is doing to irritate you. This particular time of year is not a good time to be searching for dates.

It slows down because you have used up the pool of people who were already members when you signed on.

The best way to counteract that is to loosen up your preference settings, so more members can be matched with you. Try moving 1 notch on various things and see if that helps.

Also, I think EH recommends that you re-take the personality questionnaire every 6 months. People change, and also I think they change the questionnaire. You might be found to be compatible with a somewhat different set of matches (thus more new matches) if you retook it. Contact customer care to do that.
