How often will I get matches?

Hello,

I searched through the boards to see if there was already a topic like this but did not find anything. I apologize if this is a commonly asked question and I just can't find pre-existing posts on it.

I'm wondering how matching works and how often we receive matches. I know it is going to vary from person to person, but to give some examples, I live in a place with a population of about 1 million. I received my first matches (4) on Friday, and haven't received any others yet. Does eHarmony dole out matches slowly? Do weekends affect things? Do we get matches on weekends?

Also, I'm curious what the experiences are for # of matches and frequency with people on these boards. Thanks for the help.

I have been getting them daily, but I think that can vary. You can always try the "find new matches" link at the right upper corner of the matches page and see if any more show up.

You should receive new matches every day. The number of matches you receive will vary depending on the number of available matches in your dating pool. Your settings also dictate the number of matches you receive. the tigther the settings the less matches you receive. It always a good idea to revisit, every once in awhile and tweek them a bit.

I receive 7-10 new matches a day, that is pretty much the average reported on the boards.

ETA okay that # maybe a bit high, but my time on eH..which is more years than I am williing to admit. that is what I've always received.

I don't think there's a standard number of matches or frequency. If I were to leave matching on, I'd get an average of about one match per week. That is one reason why I don't find it worthwhile to pay for membership any more. I got a few more matches when I was a brand new member, but never got more than 4 a day.

I wouldn't pay for that either, We have one of these threads every month from a newbie, and every post I've recall people reporting they average between 7-10 a day.... so maybe that is incorrect, and personally as a new member that just shelled out a bunch of dough, I would ask for a refund if it was within the three days.. eH should be embarrassed if they can only send a new member 4 matches in 6 days or whatever the time frame the OP said.

I got about 7 a day when I first joined but only get 1 every 2 or 3 days now. Probably used up all the matches and now have to wait for new ones to arrive. Needless to say when my subscription expires I wont renew it.

I got 1 match today. Yaaay. *cough*

One thing I'm noticing is I'm getting matched with outdoorsy sports buffs. While this is okay, I think it might be a bit deceiving to them because, while I'm active, I'm active on the hobby level and do not live for the outdoors. I've seen on other posts that there is a way to contact customer care to tweak my answers so I change the type of people I get matched with. I can't remember what answers I gave, but I must be giving the impression I'm out every weekend hiking or whitewater rafting, lol.

I can't seem to find how to contact customer care. Can anyone direct me?

And good gravy! I just realized the kicker. This should have occurred to me before but since I had "no" for the "wants kids" setting, I was getting a trickle of matches. I thought that the only answers were "no" and "yes or maybe". I looked at the settings and saw I can choose "maybe" (and while I'll get definite "yes" matches, at least I feel my settings are more accurate than if I said yes myself). So I changed it and BOOM 10 more matches.
