I have 355 matches to sort out due to leaving my profile to collect dust for awhile - how am i going to sort through them all? truthfully i dont know if i have the energy for that number of matches who will just ignore me or answer my first questions THEN ignore me - that's what has happened to most of my matches who i sent questions to, and the only one who made it all the way to open communication swapped 3-4 messages with me then i never heard from her again. Is there something im missing or is my profile just that boring?

You could post your profile here for review, Balmung, for feedback, but be prepared for constructive criticism.

(I looked to see if you've done this already and it seems not; let me know if I'm wrong!)

Are you a paying or non-paying subscriber? If you are non-paying and want to close all of those matches and just sort of start over from now, one option is to close your account and then reopen it a few days later. When you reopen the account, all of the matches will have been moved to the "closed" tab. (I just did this myself because it was the only way to deal with processing all of the old matches in my "inbox.") If you really want to reopen some of those matches, you will be able to do that if you become a paying subscriber.

Did you have matching turned on or off? If it was turned off, then those matches are old ones, and who even knows if they are still looking for someone (and if you left matching on and let all those new matches accumulate, then phooey on you! Always turn matching off is you aren't going to use your account...).

Balmung, you should start a new thread for this and title it something like "Profile review please". You will get a lot more response that way.

Also, you have left out 2 sections: "what I'm most passionate about" and "what I'm looking for in a relationship". Those are at the top of your EH profile page (click on "My Profile" then on "View Profile").

OK. This is a good start. Here are some comments. (Like I said, you're going to get more attention if you start a new thread for this ...)

Most passionate about: Don't just make a list. Use sentences, get more specific, and say why you're passionate about these things. E.g. "I love books -- mostly history. It's fascinating to learn how we got to be who we are." Or whatever.

This section is the absolute first part of your profile that your matches see. A lot of people won't even read past this section. It needs to give a sense of who you are.

Most influential person: Personally I think what you wrote is good, but I know from reading a lot of profile reviews (including of my own profile) that many people don't like seeing an ex mentioned as "most influential". I can't really explain to you but that feedback is common.

Leisure time: again, use sentences, not just a list. Most people don't like very short profiles, they want to see more detail, get more of a sense of you.

The rest of it I think is pretty good.

Post it in a new thread!

Hi Balmung6,

Glad that you took Iconography's advice and have decided to ask for feedback on your profile. That's definitely the thing to do if you aren't happy with the rate of responses you are getting from matches.

But back to the first problem of having to sort through 300+ matches...If you aren't a subscribed member and can use neardc's method to have all your matches closed, please remember that it will also close newer matches that you may still be interested in.

However, if you are a subscribed member, and can't do so; I want to remind you that you can select how your matches should be sorted. You may already know this, but, in order for your newest matches, to appear at the top of your 300+ list on your New Match page, you will need to select Match Delivery Date (Recent). If not, those matches will be listed all the way at the end of your 300" list, and you may begin to wonder why you aren't getting any matches. So make sure you sort this way at least once a day.

I know it's daunting to have so many matches on your profile, but, if each day you sort them by Match Delivery Date (Oldest) and close out a few, little by little you'll have closed out most, if not all, of the really old matches.

I agree with everyone that the best thing to do is to create a separate thread requesting profile feedback. That way the title will let members know that you are asking for help. I see Sassafras54 has already provided you with some feedback, and I'm sure much more is to come once you create your profile thread.

All the best.
