...Maybe, you tell me lol. I looked at the comments below in my other thread and you guys were right. So... I really thought about what makes me actually an enjoyable person and just kind of took this a little bit more on the lighter side. Hopefully it's on the right track.

The one thing Dana is most passionate about: The art of Karaoke. On the professional Karaoke circuit, I am known as Mariah Carey's not-so-vocally-awesome-but-incredibly-charming understudy. Laughing at myself every once in a while kind of makes the day to day hamster wheel a little more bearable. People always say "when life throws you lemons, make lemonade." Well, if you are only getting lemons, your lemonade is going to be pretty nasty. Karaoke is life's sugar (or are we still on the Splenda, Truvia, and sun crystals? . Add a little bit and life tastes pretty darn good.

The most important thing Dana is looking for in a person is:

Reciprocity - I live by the golden rule. I show the love, give the respect, and bestow the fidelity that I want in return; I try to be the person I would want to date.

Basic Information

Occupation: University Administrator Age: 27 Height: 5' 3" Wants Kids: Maybe Kids at Home: No
Ethnicity: African-American Religion: Christian Drinks: A few times a year Smokes: Never

In my own words

The most influential person in Dana's life has been:

My undergraduate adviser always would end every meeting, email, or conversation with "See you at the top!" Those five words were and still are very motivating when faced with a challenge that seems too difficult to overcome.

The three things which Dana is most thankful for:

  • The opportunities I have had in my life.
  • Every relationship because they helped me to learn and grow into the strong, wise, and knowledgeable woman I am today.
  • My health. It's awesome and I want to keep it that way.

Three of Dana's best life-skills are:

  • Being a good friend and companion
  • Using humor to make friends laugh
  • Communicating my innermost thoughts and feelings

The first thing people notice about Dana is:

I am pretty rhythmically challenged. I can't pop and lock, I am not so great at the cabbage patch, and I definitely won't be doing any jazz hands on "So You Think You Can Dance." But guess what, I love and have so much fun dancing [badly]! HOWEVER if you are a great teacher I am definitely an attentive student. Just let me know if I need to bring my legwarmers, leotard, and headband so I can be prepared.

The one thing Dana wishes MORE people would notice about her is:

I like tools! No, I am not talking about Jerky McDouchepants. I'm talkin' about wrenches, saws, screwdrivers, paint brushes, hammers - anything that requires getting my hands dirty to build, sculpt, make or improve something. One of my favorite organizations is Habitat for Humanity. One of my goals is to create opportunities for me to work with this organization like I did when I was and undergraduate in college.

The things Dana can't live without are:

  • God-He made me strong, wise, and resilient
  • Gum-I am addicted to trident. I buy it in bulk.
  • Car-I need to break free sometimes
  • Carmex -kissable lips are a must
  • Target -Who doesn't love Target?!

Some additional information Dana wanted you to know is: (this one is the one i am not so sure about still)

I have been in S. Florida for five years and now I am ready to move for a change in scenery. I am ready to settle down, but I don't see myself doing that here. My native GA, or NC are high on the priority list of prospective new addresses. I am trying to be patient an open minded as to where I will end up since life usually happens while you are busy making plans. I am just waiting on the right professional and personal opportunity ;o). Now...tell me a little bit about yourself...

My interests

Dana typically spends her leisure time:

I LOVE COOKING! I love making up new recipes or just trying some that I have found online. I really have an affinity for baking as well (I hope you have a sweet tooth). I also enjoy spending time at home watching trashy TV...Ok...ok don't get me wrong. I can totally enjoy watching the History channel, Discovery channel, A&E, and PBS BUT there is something about watching "reality" TV that helps me to laugh and unwind (YYEEAA BOOII!!).I hope you can handle a road trip or to jet setting to a sandy beach for a weekend because spontaneous travel excites me. I also enjoy reading, napping, and being crafty (please pass the glitter).

The last book Dana read and enjoyed:

I read a book called "A Reliable Wife." It's about a wealthy man who submitted a personal ad in a paper for a wife during the late 19th century. Someone answers the ad with intentions of swindling him out of his money, but ended up falling in love with him. All along he knew what she was doing. I just found the story very bizarre, but interesting. I liked the unexpected plot twist the most - she was actually a prostitute who had been hired by his estranged son to kill him for his fortune, but in the end the son was killed by the father (crazy huh?!).

According to my friends:

Dana's friends describe her as:

  • Dependable
  • Perceptive
  • Thoughtful
  • Spontaneous

I did not read your previous version, but this one is interesting and full of humor and character.

My only comment is the paragraph under more about me - I would not put that information there. If your match is local, then it's extremely off putting. I mean would you want to get involved with someone who may move shortly? Probably not. If the match is long distance then it reads a whole lot like I'm looking for a guy to save me and fish me out of where I am. This can also be off putting. There is no reason to bring this up. Also, there is the reality that if you met the right guy locally and he was everything you ever wanted except unable to move out of the area, let's face it, you would stay.

I like this but recommend you shorten it up a bit. leave out the lemonade bit perhaps. It's just kind of repeating what you already said once with the hamster wheel, and it's kind of seems too sugary to me.

seems fine

there is something kind of bland about opportunities in your life. Could you choose something specific maybe? It's got that professional ring to it, also. I might say pick something lighter and brighter?

This kinda makes it sound like you're a klutz. A lot of guys also think a woman who isn't a good dancer won't be good at uh other things as well. I dunno your call. Humility is one thing, but personally, I wouldn't highlight my inability to do something well in a profile.

The one thing Dana wishes MORE people would notice about her is:

that seems good to me ... it sounds like you are not one of those high maintenance types who won't be able to change out a lightbulb or touch a hammer, which I think many guys find irritating

You are basically setting up a major dealbreaker right here. Those who live in S. Florida will close you. Those who live in GA and NC won't likely get you as a match bc they've set their distance to their locality. Wouldn't you stay in S Florida if you met the man of your dreams? I think I would just put here that you are open to relocation for the right man and leave it at that. Then you can set your distance parameters wide open and communicate with any matches you get in the states you are interested in.

I don't see any dealbreakers here. I'd put an exclamation point after excites me.

Boring, it's not! You sound like a fun and well-rounded person.

I agree, though, about not including the additional information. That's a topic to discuss in person, and also one where the actual outcome is very unpredictable at this point since it can be affected by so many factors (including a relationship!).

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestion. You are definitely right about the "moving" issue.
