I have 27 matches, and was a former paying customer that went inactive for a while - was dating. Saw the "open communication" invite, and tried "emailing" some of my "matches"; got a message saying I have to be a paying member. So my question is; What, exactly, does EH mean by "open communication"? Is just the guided communication "open"? And what about letting us view pics? I bet if EH had two days of unlimited open communication you'd get a lot more paying customers who started something on those weekends!

Unpaid members cannot initiate, accept or reject FastTrack requests (aka Skip to Email), even during Free Weekends. Their intention is to prevent unpaid members from shortcutting to OC and swapping contact information there.

Unpaid members also cannot view photos. Photos are their lure.

Understandable: if all features are available during free weekends, then NOBODY will join and EVERYONE will just come during the free weekends.

What shame you canot reject any one that is sent to as amatch during free weekends.unless you are a paying member. and non of the feature are available the one that really matter you can even see pic.so you do not know who is what unless you RELY ID and pay for what every they send you as match.i found out i was right to close out my account the first time ,then i try it last night opening it back after looking at what was sent to me as a match nothing that i would even think about not even once an i guess it must be some thing in the name too as well the age.i didnot like either they did not send me a match base on nothing i choose as prefence..you make a good point about the so call new features an thefree weekendcommuncation so why would they even have it .it leave me to think it a reap off only if you pay

You can initiate contact during an FCW if you are unpaid. There might be a glitch in the system, however, with your account. Contact Customer Care. If you click on the help link on the page it should take you to an FAQ and also show you their 800#.

Sorry, just noticed that you say you a paying member. If they don't respond there could be many reasons. She could be on vacation, be unpaid and not realize there is an FCW going on, she could be in communication with someone else and not want to start with anyone new until she sees how that one pans out, etc.

As an unpaid member you have to go through GC in FCW's, you can't skip to email. When you've gotten through GC then you can do OC.

Sorry; not familiar enough with EH to understand the abbreviations you used.

Sorry! As an unpaid member, you have to go through Guided Communication during Free Communication Weekends. (In a match where both are paid members, they can choose to skip the GC.) When you've gotten through the GC, then you can do the Open Communication (the sending emails).

From your post it sounds like you went straight to trying to send emails (OC). As an unpaid member you can't do that. Start GC instead -- send "first questions" to matches you're interested in.

If a match requests you to skip GC and go to OC, you can't do that. You have to decline.

Good luck!

(I learned this as an unpaid person in the last FCW.)
