Please review my profile. I recently joined eHarmony and this is my first draft. It seems too dry and boring ... I just find it difficult to write about myself. Thank you in advance.

I'm a 40 year old male.

The one thing MyName is most passionate about:
I'm passionate about a lot of things: my Faith, family, and friends. I love to read and write and, of course, travel ... and running. While I find time for all of my hobbies and activities, I'm most at ease when I'm out on the trail or competing in a road or trail race. I'm always up for trying new things and meeting new people.

The most important thing MyName is looking for in a person is:
I'm looking for a genuinely good person, someone who enjoys to laugh and have a good time and is comfortable showing her gentle, affectionate side. Above all, honesty is essential. To be able to have complete faith and trust in another person is a beautiful experience.

In my own words

The most influential person in MyName's life has been:
Both of my brothers, but for different reasons. My older brother for his wisdom and my younger brother for showing me how to relax and have fun. I get the best of both worlds.

The three things which MyName is most thankful for:
* my Faith
* my family and friends
* my health

Three of MyName's best life-skills are:
* Being a good friend and companion
* Achieving personal goals
* Keeping physically fit

The one thing MyName wishes MORE people would notice about him is:
My sense of humor. The more time you spend with me, the more you notice it. Also, quality and depth. If you take the time to really get to know a person, you'll find a lot that you wouldn't notice on first glance. I keep that in mind as well when meeting someone new.

The things MyName can't live without are:
* My Faith
* My running shoes
* Soccer
* Books
* Coffee and Ice cream (just not together)

The first thing people notice about MyName is:
Calm, friendly demeanor. Also, guess this counts as appearance but people are always surprised when they hear my age. I've been told that I look about five or so years younger than I am. Who knows? But it certainly makes for interesting encounters when out socially. :-)

Some additional information MyName wanted you to know is:
I'm part Greek. I was raised around Greeks and Greek-Americans and in the Greek Orthodox church and it's a large part of my identity. I have family in Greece that I hope to visit again soon.

My interests

MyName typically spends his leisure time:
Reading or writing, trail running, hiking, trying something new, volunteering at church, spending time with family and friends. I'm equally comfortable outdoors as I am trying out a new restaurant or just relaxing at home. I just enjoy spending time with the people I care about, regardless of location.

The last book MyName read and enjoyed:
A Moveable Feast by E. Hemingway. I've always enjoyed reading about the expatriate writers and artists living in Paris in the early 20th century. Fav magazines: Poets & Writers, Running Times, The Economist. Always reading something.

According to my friends

MyName's friends describe him as:
* Perceptive
* Thoughtful
* Intelligent
* Good Listener

You went way past one thing. Narrow it down to one or maybe even two. What you have about competing in trails races is nice.

These seems good.

You mention faith in your most passionate section. You also mention it a couple of time after these sections, too. Once or twice is usually enough.

You semi-avoided this question. You give a little about humor (which should be shown, not told) and then go into something else and don't say anything about yourself. Pick one thing and really say something here.

The things MyName can't live without are:
* My Faith
* My running shoes
* Soccer
* Books
* Coffee and Ice cream (just not together)
Third time you mention faith. These seem OK, they aren't generic. Well, except books. I see that on most mens' profiles.

The first thing people notice about MyName is:
Calm, friendly demeanor. Also, guess this counts as appearance but people are always surprised when they hear my age. I've been told that I look about five or so years younger than I am. Who knows? But it certainly makes for interesting encounters when out socially. :-)
This seems good.

Some additional information MyName wanted you to know is:
I'm part Greek. I was raised around Greeks and Greek-Americans and in the Greek Orthodox church and it's a large part of my identity. I have family in Greece that I hope to visit again soon.
Can you get the word Greek in there some more? Kinda kidding, but it reads a bit redundantly.

This seems good.

As with most profiles posted on here, I think you just need some little tweaks.

I'm a 40 year old male.

The one thing MyName is most passionate about:

Hi TrailRunner99, I think you could be more specific here. It sounds good but this pargraph won't make you stand out. Everyone says faith, family, friends, (or their career). Maybe try to pick one or two things and expand on them.

I'm passionate about a lot of things: my Faith, family, and friends. I love to read and write and, of course, travel ... and running. While I find time for all of my hobbies and activities,

I'm most at ease when I'm out on the trail or competing in a road or trail race - this is good. Expand on this part. When did you start running? What got you into this? Are you training for or looking forward to a big race at the moment?

I'm always up for trying new things and meeting new people. - what does this mean? Travelling to new places? Trying a new dish at a restaurant? Where do you like to meet people?? Many men write some variation of this in their profile. It sounds nice but it doesn't tell the reader anything.

Sounds good.

In my own words

The most influential person in MyName's life has been:
Both of my brothers, but for different reasons. My older brother for his wisdom - can you be more specific here? What did he teach you? and my younger brother for showing me how to relax and have fun. I get the best of both worlds.

The three things which MyName is most thankful for:
* my Faith
* my family and friends
* my health
I have seen this list often. Expand on it maybe write a sentence about why each one is important to you.

Three of MyName's best life-skills are:
* Being a good friend and companion
* Achieving personal goals
* Keeping physically fit

The one thing MyName wishes MORE people would notice about him is:
My sense of humor. The more time you spend with me, the more you will notice it. Also, quality and depth. If you take the time to really get to know a person, you'll find a lot that you wouldn't notice on first glance. I keep that in mind as well when meeting someone new.

The things MyName can't live without are:
* My Faith
* My running shoes
* Soccer
* Books (..."a good mystery novel" ? ,
* Coffee and Ice cream (just not together)

Same thing here. You can expand on the points in this list.

The first thing people notice about MyName is:

This would sound better if you wrote it in a more narrative style.

People notice my calm, and friendly demeanor. Also, guess this counts as appearance but people are always surprised when they hear my age. I've been told that I look about five or so years younger than I am. Who knows? But it certainly makes for interesting encounters when out socially. :-)

Some additional information MyName wanted you to know is:

My interests

MyName typically spends his leisure time:
Reading or writing - wht do you like to write about?, trail running, hiking, trying something new, volunteering at church (add a word or two here to make this more specific,

spending time with family and friends. - I have seen this in every profile . What do you like to do with your family and friends.

This would be easier to read if it was written in complete sentences. If you write in a narrative style it sounds like you are speaking to the reader.

According to my friends

MyName's friends describe him as:
* Perceptive
* Thoughtful
* Intelligent
* Good Listener
Hi TrailRunner, your profile sounds good but very similar to many of the profiles I have read. You can be more specific to make yourself stand out. I hope that helps

Hi TrailRunner and welcome to EHA!

I don't find this "dry and boring". Perhaps you are just feeling shy about it? Some comments below ... I've deleted the sections that I thought were fine as is.
