Out of curiosity, I thought perhaps people would be willing to share how long they generally keep matches open. Do you find that you have a greater percentage of success when you act in accordance with your own standard, or when you bend your own rules?

I'm not sure what your second question has to do with the topic, but I will generally leave a non-responding match open indefinitely.

I have had a few "awaken" after weeks, and sometimes more, so why close them?

If you are really interested in certain matches, what’s the harm in leaving them open? Quite possible they could be non-paying members who can’t respond. The worst that could happen is that they respond at a later time.

Honestly, what do you gain when you close a non-responding match?

Exactly.

In fact, I just closed a few who hadn't replied to a "nudge" I sent them months ago, and wrote back to two who had sent me the last communication back in March.

We'll see what we see.

I keep my matches open in perpetuity.

I've had some zombies come back to life well after the process started. None of them have amounted to anything, but as long as I'm a paying member, I just as well play any odds I can get.

Someone here (was it PY) got a response from a match 2 years later or something! lol.

Why not just leave it open?

Could have been mine in the last few months from December 07. My oldest is from April 7, 2004. Is that a record?

I don't close any match I'm remotely interested in. I might close them if I am not interested and they take a long time to respond just coz I like to keep things tidy.

I never close matches because you never know which one might pop on during a free communication weekend.
