Over the weekend, I had the idea of re-opening some matches whom I had closed for either not communicating or no photos. These were matches whom I felt were still somewhat active due to most of them having worked on Something to Talk About and other factors, at least that was my hope.

I've contacted 11 so far, by sending nudges or the first questions. So far I've had two views - possibly a third anonymous one - and one other match needed to view me before closing me.

I guess when these matches didn't close me on their end, they weren't waiting for me to re-open!

One other thing, while looking for matches to re-open, I was amazed how many other matches never put in photos. [I have the maximum 12.]

Well, I can wait till the next FCW.

The new way the close system works only allows someone to close a match and not send a request to reopen. Are these matches from before that time? If so, they didn't have to click on anything for your closed profile to be put into their closed tab. Well, sometimes it worked like that. eH's system can be funky at times and puts matches where it wants to.

Based on this and your other threads, I get the feeling you want instant results. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen very often.

OP: good idea in theory, but if they didn't communicate before the "upgrade," then they are even more confused now with archiving, etc.

dogwood, I guess I'm not really asking a question, but just reinforcing the idea that there are a lot of inactive matches whom you think might be active.

Andielsme, I usually like whatever I find that you write, but I think you have me confused with someone else. I've hardly been posting at all lately - much less wanting instant results. {Except for a month off recently, I've been on eH close to two years.] Further, some of these matches were before the changes, some after. All of these specifically were closed by me originally, but not closed by the match for whatever reason. Thus they were able to be re-opened by me.

cal_dude, I was thinking I should have given these matches more time originally. I am much more patient than I used to be with brand new matches - not that it's done any good. lol

Never worked that way for me. Before the downgrade any of my matches that closed me stayed in the New or Communicating folder where they were. There would be a red button next to them in the Next Step column that said Match Closed. They would only move to my Closed folder when I had done something, either also closing or sending a Final Message.

Unless there is a major red flag deal breaker in a matches profile that causes me to close immediately, I send First Questions to all my matches, photo or not.

FYI this procedure is not garnering me any more communication either.
