Question: What do matches see when they go back and review the history of your communication under the "Must Haves/Can't Stands" (Stage 2) tab?

Answer: They will always see your CURRENT list of "Must Haves/Can't Stands" and not the list you originally sent.

I always thought these were customized on a match-by-match basis just like the canned questions in Stage 1 & 3.

NO! I just verified this today by changing my "Must Haves/Can't Stands" and reviewing the communication history under a specific match.

What exactly is the point of having the opportunity to change the "Must Haves/Can't Stands" list just before sending them when you risk that older matches will see something different?

If you can't change them on a match-by-match basis, then the "Must Haves/Can't Stands" should just be a permanent part of your profile. Perhaps in a hidden part of your profile which is simply revealed at Stage 2.

By giving you the orange "Edit" button during Stage 2, you are clearly led to believe that the "Must Haves/Can't Stands" are customized per each match, the same as the canned questions at Stage 1 & 3. Yet this is false.

Your MH /CS are settings that any of your matches can view once they passed the first two stages of questions. They aren't sent, they're there for view. I didn't realize they were merely settings either at first but I figured it out. I don't think they led me to believe they were customized for each match - they just didn't advise anything about it.

You can say the exact same thing about Stage 1, 3, & 4 also... not sent but there for view once you press the "send" button.

No they didn't advise, but the fact that one customizes Stage 1, 3, & 4 in conjunction with giving you an edit button on the "Must Haves/Can't Stands" always led me to believe they were unique to the match. Without telling me or my own testing, there's no reason to believe otherwise.

Then why does the button say "Send MHCS" and why does it say they were "sent" if they weren't?

Using words like "send" and "sent" sure make it sound like something is being "sent".

Since different questions can be sent to each match, and the MHCS appears on the screen to function the same way, I'm surprised to hear it "works" this way. I'll bet 99% of others would be, too.

Eharmony needs to hire some people who've at least read a book about website design and usability.

The site just keeps getting worse.

Hmmm, I'm going to have to check out my MHCS list now. I believe you are able to change it before you send it to each match. I'm not sure that list will change if you edit it later. But, I don't know of many people that go back to the MHCS list and reread it days later. I usually just scan it to see if any red flags pop up. Or, if I don't meet one of theirs.

That's the whole point of this thread. I made sure it functioned like that before I posted here. It's simple enough to try for yourself.

Maybe/Maybe Not... which is totally beside the point.

What if you send out your MHCS to three separate people all within a few minutes but you "customize" your MHCS each time?

It's a waste of time since all three will only see the MHCS list you sent to the last one.

*shrug* I've never felt the need to "customize" my MH/CS list for a match. Never thought about it and don't know why I'd want to do so.

The things I want and don't want in a match don't change with who I'm communicating with.

I'm very curious as to why you'd even want to do that and what your reasoning is.

You make a good point.

However, this is beside the original point. The site leads you to believe that customizing the MHCS list is an option for each match.

I've only changed mine once. Then later decided to change it back. This is when I discovered the issue.

I've never done that so I can't answer your question.

All I can say is that there are more items I'd like to choose than the ten available slots.
