I've widened my circle for distance to about as wide as I want to go. Only one problem. It includes areas I don't want.

Is there anyway to search specific states (not just our own) or maybe directional? Allowing us to select 120 miles North and 50 miles South, or something like that. I'm open to relocating for a match, but not to San Fran or Sacramento, I just really don't like those particular areas as areas to live.

Anyone else have ideas for the distance settings?

It would be great if the distance setttings were a little more granular..

I'm with you on this idea Andie..

If we were given the option to mix and match the mileage with the specific state setting. That would help me tremendously. Getting matched with members outside my state, but within my allowed distance.
So my idea would be: allow us to use the up to xxxx miles away and select specific states together.

*This may not help those who live in larger states where radius isn't an issue, But could help those who live near state lines or on the coastline.

And to answer one of your questions. Yes! you can select more than one state. It's in the drop down menu.

You can select to search certain states. In the drop down box where you set the distance select the one that says I'd Like to Select Specific States.

In days past eHarmony was smart enough to determine that if you always closed matches from a certain city, say San Fransisco, that they would stop sending you matches from that city. Just as a wild guess that is probably yet another thing that has gone away in the "up grades".

You may also want to make a list of certain ZIP codes that are areas that are acceptable and see if Customer Care can set your search area only to those certain areas. You better call because if you e-mail this request you will just get a canned response.

For what eharmony charges, they really should improve this feature and let people specify things like city name, county, zip codes, etc. as well as just a circle that has little relationship to how far away someone is in real driving time.

It wouldn't be that difficult to program something like that, and they already have the info they need.

People shouldn't have to beg customer service to set these things; it should be part of the interface.

Maybe they're too busy not working on the iphone app.

I agree with you.

However, it's almost pointless until they stop pushing insultingly large numbers of Flexible Matches upon us.

Ooooh! I didn't realize they had added this feature. I hadn't messed around with that setting except to widen my area once. Good to know. Thanks all! I'm sure there are more tweaks I would like to do to the search criteria, but that is for later.

Lucky people that get to select states! I'm in Germany so I just get to select my whole country.

I still get matched with men from the States every now and then - I mean I get the flexible match thing but Oklahoma?

I don't think it's an issue to let the matches come in, and then close those who are out-of-range.

I've also had some good (lucky?) experience, that a person may happen to be flexible in a manner which nicely dovetails with an inflexibility of mine.

Andie, dont forget to put Washington in your search. From what I gather your looking for in some of your posts I think you might be able to find a few up here.
