I've started cleaning out my matches before the next "upgrade" reduces the functionality again.

What I have noticed : some older matches got "Something to Talk About" completely filled out. So chances are they are poofers rather than non-members.

So they let their subscription expire after being matched with me; sounds similar to poofing in this respect.
At some point one has to decide who to nudge, who to close, and who can wait until the FCW

IMHO a poofer is only someone who you were in communication with and then quit communicating without saying goodbye.

This would mean that someone that has never answered your First Questions or communicated with you in some other way is not a poofer. This would mean that they are either a non-paying member or someone who does not have enough manners to either communicate or close. In which case they are really one and the same.

Send First Questions to everyone. The day before a FCW begins send a Nudge to all who have not been communicating. After the FCW is over close all who still have not communicated.

That's how I used to do it. However, I will say I never had any success at actually meeting anyone.
