I've completed my "Something to Talk About" section and there is nothing missing... every question fully answered.

Every single time I log into eHarmony (starting on the day the Archive function was added) I get an annoying popover box attempting to ask me the same "Something to Talk About" questions. I can't do anything until I close this box.

Seriously eHarmony, does your web development team consist of one guy working out of his basement? There are so many bugs and interface inconsistencies being reported in this forum, I cannot believe otherwise.

How about thoroughly testing out these new features in a closed system before subjecting us paying members to this mess? Maybe even pay a few eHarmony members to act as beta testers. If you're already doing this, you need to fire them all... these bugs are repeatable and easy for anyone to spot.

I'm not talking about differences of opinion, like the level of access a non-paying member should get. I'm talking about really simple things like what screens you see after taking a specific action... "workflow" issues. It's apparent that very little care is taken when programming which screen or what each screen says when an action is taken.... the user is left rolling his eyes.

It's mind boggling that these types of things that can't be quickly fixed within hours of discovery... and I'm speaking from professional programming experience.

I've been a member on and off for years and other than the changing colors, the flood of banner advertising, and renaming tabs, I've yet to see ONE feature make this site easier to use.

Hi JohnK67 –

First, I did edit your topic – that is un-editable by design; only the moderators have the ability to edit the titles.

Thanks for starting this topic and offering your opinion as well as just letting us know what’s going on. I’ll add your statements to the feedback we send up.

In the meantime, let us know if this works as a work-around: if you click on the “Skip this question” for each question till you get to the end, log out, and log back in, the questions should be gone. Furthermore, you should be able to find the answers you’ve filled out on the Something to Talk About section on your My Profile page.
Keep us posted and let us know if that works.

All the best,

I saw that in another thread. I logged out and logged back in and it's gone... but that's only until tomorrow morning. If I recall correctly, I'm only seeing that pop-up intermittently in the day.

Like I described in the other thread, this is a poor technical design. The "system" should "know" if I've answered these questions already yet it's not consistent across all browsers or computers... at least from what I'm seeing.

I'll pay better attention and keep you posted... although I fail to see why this should be so complicated to get properly fixed for once and for all.

I've had the same experience as the OP. It's really annoying and it's one of the reasons I've decided not to become a paying member.

Thanks, JohnK67 –

I’m sorry to hear that it wasn’t a permanent fix, but thank you for letting me know right away so I could create a ticket based on this information. I completely understand your frustration, and I wish there was more I could recommend. Hopefully, I’ll get some information from them or better yet, this issue will be fixed shortly.

All the best,

Thanks Kate, you've been really nice.

It should be noted that my rant has more to do with long term usability issues and this issue was only the latest straw.

I've been using eHarmony since the beginning of time... all I ever see are deck chairs in new locations... meanwhile there's still a gaping hole in the engine room's hull... to use a Titanic metaphor.

This site is NOT EASY TO USE... it never has been and nothing seems to be changing.

Why don't the simplest usability issues ever get fixed?

I was going to go off on a new tangent but I think I'll save it for a new thread.

I have had that same problem several times now as well. It won't do it everytime, but every couple of days it'll ask me again.

As promised, I'm updating this thread.

Yesterday after posting this topic, I did not experience the problem again so I could not try the workaround.

Today, I logged in and it came back.

So yes, it's intermittent within one computer/browser and it never occurs on another computer/browser.

I will not experiment with workarounds... these types of problems are not the users' fault. It's a technical design flaw that needs to be fixed by eHarmony.

Thanks for the update, JohnK67.

No, we’re trying to blame it on the users, and the goal is certainly to create a way to make it work across systems. I’ll add this information to what I submit.

Hmm, a cookie problem, me thinks.
