Hey, does anybody out there hate that "Archive" functionality as much as I do???

I spend more time archiving and then closing matches. It just seems so redundant to me.

At least with the old way, if we wanted to close a match, we could directly. And although the canned reasons for closing were sorta lame, at least you could get some sense of closure if you were closed out.

Now, it is like we are in a black hole if we get closed out.

I really wish they brought back the old way of closing out matches!!!!

Same here. In general, I prefer things to be simple, and the detour of archiving does not make sense to me.

We've had quite a bit of discussion on this in some other thread on the Using eHarmony board.

I agree this is annoying. I've suggested a second button next to the archive button allowing you to close your match. Is this something you would like to see as well?

Just get rid of the archive function altogether...it makes no sense to me, just go back to the old way of doing things.

I know it sounds like I may be complaining, but has anybody also witnessed a slow down in logging in or trying to open up a match, or send a message???? It's those annoying ads...I wish something can be done about those as well.

The ads are a whole other topics by themselves. First they are offensive in the sense that I'm paying EH for their service so once in the "paid" zone, should not be subjected to ads like it's some free site being supported by ads. Secondly, the ads do cause major loading and functionality problems and slow the site down considerably. Finally, the ads are running all kinds of tracking cookies that latch onto your computer and track where you go and what you do. It's just completely unacceptable and underhanded.

Take it into your own hands.

Run FireFox and add in the plugin called "Ad Block Plus".
It blocks nearly all the ads from ever being downloaded, let alone shown on your screen.

If one does actually sneak through, you can "Block" the address of where the ad was being served from, so that next time it won't happen.

Some could argue that you are hurting sites you visit by doing this, by taking away ad revenue.

However, I do not feel at all guilty about using it on EHarmony, as I am a paid member, and thus I feel EHarmony shouldn't be double dipping.

Cookies don't have that power.

lol....tracking cookies are used by the ad companies to compile a browsing habits profile. They can and do have the ability to track which websites a user is visiting. It is not a security risk to your personal data, but it will result in ads being served according to which sites you've been visiting. So if you are on site A and move on to site B, a cookie has the ability to track that.

Perhaps I should expand that I did not literally mean latch onto to your computer.....

If the ads weren't so obnoxious and annoying most people would just ignore them so that's just too bad for the site. Maybe if there's enough of a backlash about the ads, eH, and the advertisers, would get the message.
