Hi EH,

With the new Close Format...

I just got Closed by a Match I was in OC with, and she had sent me a message, and then Closed me.

Obviously the message is going to be something like "I found someone else" type of message.

However, I am unable to read the email, nor any email we had sent back and forth between each other.

However, with OLDER Matches that are now Closed, I am able to go view all the email communication between that Match and I.

Why the difference?
I assume this is a bug...

Hello!

I was in this same stage. I was in OC with a match and hadn't gotten a chance to responding to his last message about 3 weeks ago. When I went to respond today he was archived and after selecting closed match, I expected to see a reason but it's not there. I would like to say, it was nice chatting with you good luck with your search.

I wasn't 'feeling it' after the last communication with him and it was probably the same vice versa--no nudge, nothing, he just closed me. but regardless, still wanted to say good luck.

Are there any other options?

There are no options to send a final message.

If you would like to give it a second chance. You can contact eH customer care and ask them to send him a message to re-open.

FWIW..If you kept me on hold for 3 weeks. I would've closed you too.

Ah, you people hijacked my thread!

Anyway, it turns out this is a new thing...

If your Match closes you, you will NOT be able to view any past communication with said Match.

This goes against the old way, which was you were still able to view the communication even when the Match was Closed.

Here is the customer service response I got:

I have reviewed your account and noted that eHarmony Mail was available to both you and your match. However, since your match closed communication with you, you will not be able to review the communication history

So wait!! Does this mean both parties can no longer review it, or is it tied to being the Closer vs Closee?

I doubt that is the case, but nothing surprises me anymore

I just went to a match I closed in OC. When you click Eharmony Mail, I get this message:

"Your messages during this step are now displayed as the first two messages in Open Communication. Click Here to read your messages in Open Communication"

When I click it, there's all my messages.

I went to a match that closed me. And the same thing is there. I can retrieve all messages if you click the Eharmony Mail, then the Click here option.

Yup, as it should be.
That is the way it has always been, and should remain.

I personally think EHarmony Customer Service is full of it, on their response to me.

I don't think they know why (or more likely, don't care), that I can't view this specific Match's past communication, so they are just feeding me a line.

I emailed back to EH Customer Service just now, with 2 examples of Closed Matches that have Closed me, and I can view the past communication with them just fine.

I guess we shall see what they come back with.

Well, isn't that just a lovely little thing? Another bizarre decision by eHarmony.

I don't like this new feature. I had been communicating with someone who I felt things were going in the right direction, but I became sick for a few weeks and was unable to respond. When I came back to send him an email, it said closed. When I went to see what the reason was, I lost him!!!! I could cry!!! Was he just impatient? Or did he find someone else? Why did you change the format for the procedure when someone closes you? I am very upset. Please go back to the old way. This new archiving is COLD! It's hard enough to have to date via computer...this really ruins it!!!!

I don't know all the details of your illness but here again if you had been communicating with me on a regular basis (like every day) and then I don't here anything for a few weeks I have no choice but to assume that you have poofed on me and I would close you also.

Since you have a blank profile I don't know your age, but most people that are in the dating pool work. Employers like to be notified when someone is out sick. If you were able to tell your employer that you were sick then you could have sent an e-mail to your match that you were sick and would get back to him in a bit.
