Are eharmony matches really more "compatible" than people you'd meet elsewhere?

After hearing about the 29 "dimensions of compatibility" and filling out the lengthy survey I have been surprised when visiting these boards that most people seem to not really be meeting compatible matches. So, I have to ask, are the people you've been matched with and met via eharmony in general more compatible with you than people you'd meet elsewhere? Do you think eharmony even matches people based on their survey answers? Or do you think that if someone matches my basic easily checkable criteria like location, age, etc. that they will be matched with me even if our deeper values and "compatibility" are not aligned?

The love of your life promo is just a sells pitch to get you to join the site. Just view it as an added avenue in which to meet people. You will go through the same trials and errors as you would anywhere else. You will be matched with some people you would get a long really well with and some you wouldn't get a long well at all with.

Yes.

I think the 29 points of compatibility is a typo. I think it's supposed to be 2.9

It's like when you go see a movie. You have to wear the special glasses to get the 29-D effect.

29-D glasses sold separately.

Well, they're a lot more likely to be single than 99% of the people I meet IRL. So, by that definition, yes.

Well we know it's more than 1 out of 9, because so far they've gotten the gender right every time...

I only know one thing I would never have met the most amazing person in the world if I had not joined e h our paths would never have crossed. I was very very honest on my compatibility test and I see my match was too. Oh I had lots of matches 300 plus my first month and my first date with a prospect I was nearly date raped, but I got right back in there and I now have found the love of my life. Thank you God and EH

Not everyone fills those things out honestly, there is a fair degree of tactical profiling on dating sites, answering questions the way they think they should or that looks most attractive.
