Has anybody done this? I know of people who hire professional writers to help with resumes, but I'm wondering if anybody has ever done so with writing a good profile (or at least in the about me sections on dating sites?)

I'm wondering if this would help me? I might sound very boring on paper...but I'm really not in person! I haven't had the opportunity to travel much, so that's a culture thing against me. I haven't even been on an airplane before. So, again, that makes it sound like I'm sheltered. I don't do a lot of extremely adventurous stuff on the weekends like skydiving or climbing mount Everest. And, I don't make anything close to six figures a year. BUT, I have a GREAT personality and I'm funny...LOL!!! I would LOVE travel, and don't mind taking my first airplane ride..I just don't want to do it by myself. I have even wanted to go skydiving, but figured I needed to learn to ride in an airplane first before I jump out of one. And I'm willing to climb lesser mountains or at least just go hiking up a mountain And I am looking to advance in my career, but I am thankful for even having a job in the career in which I studied in college.

I dunno, I'm the type that can make any boring situation fun with my wise cracking jokes....but how does one put all of that into a profile that screams, "I HAVE GOT TO MEET THIS GUY!"

eH has a paid profile writing/feedback service, but why don't you start by posting your profile here for feedback from the community? You've been here long enough now so that people have a sense of your personality so they can see if you're conveying that well in your current profile. You'll likely get some advice to use (and some to lose), and the price is right!

As neardc said there are a lot of people here on the boards that would be happy to offer suggestions on your profile.

I have not traveled all that much and most of my travel has been on the company plan. I was an adult before I flew on my first airplane trip. I have never been skydiving (and don't want to) or climbed Mount Everest. As for making a six figure income, according to news reports 95% of the tax payers qualify for the stimulus rebate. Near as I can figure the cutoff for that was $75,000. That means that 95% of the people in the country don't make a six figure income. So I would say that you are just like the rest of us except some people are probably lying about their six figure income.

Me too!

Or are you offended that he has a photo with you in it

Well you know, I didn't complete the new section that EH has just added, but I think that was added right before I decided to "take a break" from EH. I will post my profile in a second.

You mean the dog? I think the dog's adorable?

Greg, consider that when it comes to skydiving, travel, etc., it may be more important to be someone who WANTS to do them, than to be someone who has already done them. In other words, attitude is the key.

This portion of your original post is really appealing: I would LOVE travel, and don't mind taking my first airplane ride. I just don't want to do it by myself. I have even wanted to go skydiving, but figured I needed to learn to ride in an airplane first before I jump out of one. And I'm willing to climb lesser mountains or at least just go hiking up a mountain.

It shows a lot of personality and great attitude. It says that while you haven't done everything yet, you're open to having the experience with the right woman. It shows a really appealing level of vulnerability without making you sound like a wimp. And who wouldn't want to be the woman who holds a cute guy's hand during his first plane ride?

Why not give this approach a shot? You don't have to be Superman, just a guy who's fun, approachable and warm-hearted. I suspect that's who you are already!
