I've noticed that the same two profiles are consistently in the "connect with advice members" section at the righthand side of my screen in EHA. Is the site trying to tell me something?

I've noticed this too. I don't know what to say, other than I think there aren't too many advice profiles that are filled out seriously. So when they find a few good ones, they get featured.

Not really. I don't know how the people that appear in the "Connect with ..." section are selected but they will be shown there for several weeks and then someone else will be there. In general the long time regular posters on the boards are never selected and in some cases there have even been people there that have not been on the boards in a very long time. In the case of the two current people they are relatively new members and neither are particularly prolific posters.

Who knows someday you may be listed there

Yeah, the whole "Connect with..." thing on EHA is kind of strange.

I am not really sure what it is supposed to do, as, like you mention, most of the members posted there are inactive members who wouldn't even know you want to "connect" with them.

I suppose they don't want to pick people that are too current or too active, because that leads to risk they might pick someone that might be too controversial, which wouldn't draw users to join EHA.

You are the exception, not the rule.

So, as a chosen member, do you seem to get more "friends" request now than compared to before?

Or do you just end up getting a lot more spam messages sent to you instead?

I'm not really sure how they go back choosing the profiles. I'm thinking it might be the same way places like match.com chooses their member spotlight profiles. I was taken back that my profile was highlighted. It has made me more noticeable certainly, and I've added a few new "friends" to my profile. I've even had one to send me a hate message (don't think I have ever seen this person post in the forums before though) so it's not all what it is cracked up to be.

I've definitely gotten more friend requests..but I figured that was because I was posting more in the forums. Like I just said, I have also gotten a really nasty message posted on my profile too (one in which I have deleted) so it's not really what it is cracked up to be.

If you get inappropriate comments or PMs you should report this to Advice powers either by clicking on the "Report ..." button or by sending a PM to one of the moderators with what your particular concern is.

I have. Of course I wound up deleting the post too, but did so because it was a very insulting and embarrassing post.
