So, I have a quick question for y'all. When you see the rely id icon next to a match's name does that necessarily mean they're a paying member? Would it stay there if they'd been a paying member but let their subscription lapse? Does anyone know? Just curious. Thanks.

RelyID is a pretty good indication that a match is an paying member. However RelyID is a seperate service, The subscription lasts for a year, So it is possible that a non-paying member could have the RelyID logo on their profile.

I maybe wrong, but I don't believe the logo is removed until the year subscription expires.

Thanks for the info. This is just what I was wondering.

That's my understanding. The way I understand it is if you had a match that bought a three-month eHarmony subscription and RelyID at the same time and the match let the eHarmony subscription end, the RelyID tag would stay there for the remaining nine months until it expired.

This is correct.

Because RelyID is a year subscription and stays on the profile for the year even if the eHarmony subscription was for only one month it is not a reliable indicator of the person being a member.

However, it is an indication that the person was at least a member at some time and not just someone who created a profile to "view your matches for free". I do use the RelyID as an indication that the person is a bit more serious and is more likely to be a paying member or at least may still be active and would respond on a FCW. I also view the Premium Personality Profile the same way. I will add a caveat that rarely do my matches with either RelyID or a PPP respond any more frequently than any of my other matches. I would suspect that I have had as many matches with a nearly empty profile and no photo respond as those with RelyID or a PPP.

People keep posting threads with questions on how to discern who is a paying member and who is not. It can't be done. The best course of action is to just send First Questions to any match that is of any interest. If they respond great, if not then close them after the next FCW.

FYI I just checked my current matches that I have sent First Questions to. I have 4 that have RelyID, 3 have never responded after at least two weeks. The other quit responding after exchanging MHCS over two months ago.
