REORDERED NOW. The new headline is "Sense of humor required!"
Interest section is pared down a bit. Is it still too long?
=======================================
WARNING: A sense of humor is required when reading this profile! (Please use yours.)

I have a nine-year-old son and that puts me in an earlier stage of life. I'm not yet ready for "geezerhood".

My "Wii Fit Age" is 25 (it was a very good day...) Ha! Sure wish I'd gotten a photo of that screen, because I'm quite sure I'll never see that number again!

My son Ty is by far the best thing that ever happened to me. He spends most of his time with his mother, up in PA, but alternate weekends and summers are mine, and we have a blast! I like kids.

My favorite recreation lately is bicycling. Ty and I got going a couple of summers ago, and he's been doing 15 to 25 mile rides with me. Not bad for seven (now nine), eh? I'd hope that you might be up for a 20 mile ride on occasion. I'm not at all hard-core about it ... I keep a pretty leisurely pace, but I do like a breeze.

I make a mean smoked salmon, prepare sushi at home sometimes, and am generally good at cooking. I'd love to find a gal that likes to play together in the kitchen! Preparing a meal together is something that I really miss right now.

While I'm not a musician, I'm into music. Yes, that is the late Robert Hazard (he wrote 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun', remember?) playing in my living room, and yes, I'm mixing. I love to entertain, and frequently do it on a large scale. Curious? Just ask ...

When I'm out for live music, I love to dance. Don't really know what the hell I'm doing, but I can fake "swing dancing" well enough to fool most, and to get you twirling around a bit.

I live out in the country, and like it here. It's hard to beat being able to just leave my office, walk out back to the pond, and spend ten minutes playing with the bass. Visiting the city can be fun too, and I do it on occasion.

Two Golden Retrievers, Peter Parker, AKA Spidey-Pup, and Xena the Warrior Princess, share my home with me. If I like you, I can guarantee that they'll love you! With GREAT enthusiasm. I'll probably have to sit on them. You might find out why black is a Golden's favorite color.

Got rid of the TV service last year, but I do watch movies - pretty much always at home. For me, there's not much reason to head out to a theater. The Princess Bride, GalaxyQuest, Frequency, Taken, Adventures in Babysitting, and The Fifth Element are all favorites. Just fell in love with "The Time Traveler's Wife". I'm really good at giving foot-rubs, and they kind of frown on that in theaters.

I'm CTO of a small internet business. Lots of flexibility, but also sort of always on call. I try to keep my notebook with me for emergencies. In the final analysis I think that it's fair to say that I make my living cussing at computers.

A few final notes:

I'm looking for a lover, in the largest sense of the word. Someone who lights up the room for me when she walks in, and when she leaves, I'll miss her right away. Someone that cares enough to take the time to know me, and is brave enough to let herself be fully known. If you know what that means, and you've made it this far, we should talk.

Oh yeah - I realize this takes time, and nothing is certain, but it's what I want, and I believe that it's worth looking for and working for. I don't believe we're meant to do this alone.

First date? Kind of depends on how local we are to each other. Meet for a drink or for dinner ... I'd certainly like to email and/or talk on the phone a few times first.

Big improvement. I'm going to let the others speak to length. Being a bit of a wordy gal myself, I'd read it, but some might not.

In all, I like the way you've taken out a lot of the stuff that *could* be viewed as challenging or humor that might be misinterpreted.

Hope it brings you lots of great matches (with one in particular, of course).

It is still a bit long. And on POF, I have a feeling there are so many people, length is a killer. Why read a novel when there are so many other profiles to sift through?

It still jumps a tiny bit, not much tho. Overall, it is much better and much easier to read. I didn't notice any negative statements, but, I did jump and skim a little as (stated earlier) it is a bit long.

I find this version much more interesting because while your humor was there, it wasn't the jagged humor you had before.

Yeah but POF has too many people with two digit IQ's.

It's long but if I were you I wouldn't mind being passed over by women who don't get it and think it's too long. It's well thought out and well stated.

I did it. I read it all, and no scanning either.
Much, much better. Good luck.

I like it - a lot. It's all about you, but in a good way

I agree - the "right" women will read it - even if it is long.

Good luck!

Thank you all. I do plan to reorganize it, but I'm fairly happy for the moment.

Much, much better. Great job! The only thing I'd change (just my opinion to take or leave) is combining the first bit about your son with the cycling bit later on. I think those sections would fit better as one paragraph - especially since you say at the end of the first paragraph that you're not ready for "geezerhood" so immediately transitioning to talking about cycling with your son illustrates that perfectly. Very minor.

As for length, I did not have a problem with it but, like LBMM, I am a bit verbose myself. *shrug* Women who are judging potential matches based on a "sound bite" will likely pass over your profile but those women would not likely make a good match for you anyway. Your profile is unique in many ways and stands out to those who read it - definitely not the same stuff seen over and over again.

Again, good luck out there. I hope you have some great news to share with us soon.

Tonya,

Thanks! I had those very changes in mind already, and just made them.

I've edited the first post now.

puhleeze. I met my man on POF- maybe we all have 2 digit IQ's but it's way better than the emotionally damaged squares on EH. *
