yesterday, for the first time I was mod'ed. I don't know why. does the moderator let the person posting why? I did not think that I wrote anything that was offensive. I disagreed with an earlier post, but felt my post should have been within bounds.

how does one know what they wrote that kept their response from posting? is there a way to contact someone for a reason? I don't want to take the time to write a post and then not have it shown.

thanks.

Chances are something in your post was caught by the automatic filter. Since it's the weekend (and a holiday weekend, at that), it will take some time for your post to either be approved by a moderator or for you to be contacted by a moderator to make it appropriate for approval.

I'm guessing that if you can't think of anything that was wrong with it, it was probably just a chance string of characters that was caught by the filter. Just give it some time and it will show up.

thanks. that works just fine. having the "mod" explained is helpful. I'm not real smart, but I can learn.

this just happed to me. I was thanking someone for something he wrote to me, and telling him to keep his hopes up because not all girls play games with guys emotions. I did not say anything bad but my post needs to be approved.

Let me go a little farther than brneyedangel.

There are certain words (though not that many) that will trip the moderation filter. Certain words will never be allowed but many that trip the filter will be reviewed by a real person and depending on the context will then be allowed.

Also a thread title may actually have a word that will trip the filter yet when reviewed by a person found to be appropriate in the context. However, when someone posts in that thread the post will go to a moderator because of the thread title. This can be very frustrating for the poster and I am sure the moderator also.

Another thing that will send a post to moderation is if the system gets backed up and can't properly handle a post at the moment it will display that it is being moderated. In many cases when this is the problem the post will be displayed very quickly, sometimes within second or minutes.

Let me go a little further than Gr8guyn20008

It can also get caught in mod when you're replying with a quote from another poster. That person's post may have had a word that was caught by the filter, then approved by the mods

And I'll take it even one step further--VCLs are not moderators, and therefore, we cannot pull your posts out of moderation. You have to be on the payroll to be able to do that!

Would you mind explaining what is a Volunteer Community Leader ... perhaps a little about what you can and cannot do? Maybe why you chose to do this?

And let me take it even one more step. ..Group owners have mod power in their particular group.
