Hi all - I was a bit hesitant to post my profile because I felt bad asking you all to take time to read through it. But I've read a lot of comments on the boards recently that make me think I probably need one... Thank you in advance for taking the time

The one thing I am most passionate about:

If I were to stick with the rules and only indicate one thing here, it would be dancing. Favorites are salsa and ballroom, but I also enjoy swing, hip hop, and jazz. It's energizing and liberating and a fun way to express myself and I just absolutely love it. But who follows the rules anymore?! I'm also passionate about traveling. I love exploring new places and meeting new people - I learn something from every adventure I take.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:

Someone who enjoys traveling and being adventurous. And not just your one vacation a year deal – we’re talking, on average, one weekend a month and one longer vacation at some point during the year. I’m looking for someone who’s willing to try the local food, explore that hidden beach, go whitewater rafting or skiing or kayaking, explore the area by foot, bike, car, train, horse…whatever mode of transportation is available. I want to look back 30 years from now and say that I’ve visited the 50 states and Puerto Rico, the 10 provinces and 2 territories, and at least one country on every continent.

The most influential person in my life has been:

My friend Chris. Something I learned from my professor of military science was to always choose the hard right over the easy wrong and it is something I strive to remember and follow in my everyday life. Chris has incredibly strong moral and personal values that she never jeopardizes. She reminds me how important it is to stand by my beliefs and values and, through her actions, encourages me to choose the harder right more often than not.

The three things which I am most thankful for:

Good health
I live in a free country – we take this for granted on a daily basis!
Ability and opportunities to learn and grow

Three of my best life-skills are:

Keeping physically fit
Finding new adventures and unique experiences
Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me is:

That I'm strong and decisive. I'm often willing to go with the flow, but when it comes down to it, I can make a decision and move forward with a decision if I'm needed to take the leadership role.
By the way, can I just say that I really hate this question and don’t have any clue on how to answer it. Everything I write sounds so trite…certainly open to suggestions

The first thing people notice about me is:

My energy. I'm always on the go and almost always upbeat (hey, we all have bad days).

The things I can't live without are:

Personal freedom
Dance
My best friends
Intellectual stimulation
Warm clothes and the sun – I hate the cold!

Some additional information I wanted you to know is:

Let's see...I'm originally from the east coast. The longest I've lived in one place is 5 years (that was in high school) and I enjoy moving and trying new places. I'm in the Army Reserve - I loved my time on active duty, not yet sure if I'm going to stay in the Reserve. I enjoy learning new languages and speak Dutch (well), French (somewhat), and Spanish (limited), as well as smatterings of a few others.

I typically spend my leisure time:

Dancing, soccer, traveling, and reading are the main ones. Also running, biking, cooking, and working out at the gym. And I'm pretty open to trying almost anything. Except perhaps bungee jumping...that would require some serious convincing...

The last book I read and enjoyed:

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's a historical fiction set mainly in Scotland in the 18th century. It's about a married couple on vacation in the British Isles and she gets transported back to the 18th century. I love historical fictions because you learn a piece of history, but the plot keeps you coming back for more; it makes history an easy read. I thought the book was well written, interesting, and a fun read.

My friends describe me as:

Happy
Sweet
Hard Working
Energetic

One thing that only my best friends know is:

I try not to have many regrets in life, but one thing I do regret is not being with my father when he passed away.
Doesn’t really matter what I have here because, although it shows up on my profile, I have no way of changing it. So critique this one all you want, but it is what it is. One day, EH will get this glitch figured out…

That is a really, really good profile. I wouldn't change a thing.

Incidentally, you can get rid of the "best friends" part by emailing customer care. That's how I got mine removed.

I think you've written a very strong profile that seems to describe yourself very well.

The only thing that I had concern over was your professed interest and joy for a somewhat itinerant life. I think many women looking for a look term relationship might be scared by the idea of moving every couple of years

However, if that's who you are, you definitely have to put it out there to find the right match.

This is barely an okay answer. I tend to prefer seeing the questions answered as written. Giving more than one answer, when the question askes for one, is something that I see a lot of. For that reason, one answer stands out better.

Your travel answer is extremely cliche - this is in many women's profiles. I like the dancing part better.

I like this answer.

Specific time commitment defined - excellent.

Detailed activities and reasons.

This is again just okay. (It could be edited to make it more clear that Chris is the professor.)

To make this good, can you provide an example? (An example germane to a reason for a potential partner to want to learn more about you is especially good.)

I think it's a very interesting and positive profile. One thing I noticed was that nowhere in the profile is your gender apparent. Of course, if you were actually matched with someone, that would be clear.

Excellent post.

I appreciate this observation.

Think I'll be noticing this myself, going forward.

This is a good point. I'm not someone who wants to live in the same city and the same house for 30 years...I'd go stir crazy. But I don't necessarily need to move every 3 years (although that's been my MO over the past 12 years), so this might be an unnecessary red flag.

This is a good comment because Chris is actually not the professor... I'll have to revise this.

Very interesting insight, had never thought about that...now to figure out how to make that more apparent... And by the way, I'm of the female gender in case you were still wondering
