I have used E-harmony back in 2006..all I got was the "closed" due to distance.
Anyway, as E-Harmony advertises in Australia I thought about giving another try...I am thinking that I just wasted my money again... The Matches are all from US and Canada and the same thing comes again..."distance".

So I am quite disappointed as I think that the E-harmony adds are not really honest..if there are no matches in Australia or in a close country why do so?

I can understand that no one from US or Canada will engage in a communication with views to a relationship with someone down under and so far away, especially at our age. And the other thing that is annoying is the fact that we cannot communicate with E-harmony. At least, until now I did not find a way to communicate with the costumer support.

There is a way to contact EH but it is so deeply buried in the help that it will take some hunting to do it. Without hunting for it myself again, I can't point ya to exactly where it is.

On no matches from Australia, what is your range set at? Still even if it was set for worldwide you should still have gotten some for Australia in that month. It does make me wonder why they advertise when there is no one in your area signed up, other then you of course.

Hi BarbinOZ,

It does sound like at some point you had opened your settings to countries outside of Australia, and you may want to have someone on the Customer Care team look at your settings to see if there are other ways to expand your settings.

The link that Gtaylor72 is probably referring to is: eHarmony Support Home Page. When you click on this page, you’ll see category-links. Click on the category that best fits your inquiry (such as Matching). Click on a question on the left hand side and you’ll get to a page where you’ll see a link to e-mail us. Click on this link and you’ll see a screen where you can send a message.

We would love to help you find someone local. You may consider keeping your settings open, however. We have many stories where couples found each other across the world. If you are open to that, someone else out there is too. It has become a cliché, but it’s still true: “it only takes one!”

All the best,

There are others on these Advice boards from Australia so I would have to think that they may be members or at least there are other people in Australia who are members.

You may want to review the many threads / posts dealing with poor response from Customer Care in dealing with any problem. The best way to get any help is via yourself, Renee and Lori. It may not bee your job but at least you girls can read, understand and don't have the "Send canned response" button.

Sounds like there may not be many Australians that have signed up yet. Hence the advertising?
The word has to get out somehow.
Maybe you guys have better singles bars down there?

Yes, there are definitely subscribers in Australia. My settings are pretty tight and I have had 55 Matches in 88 days, of which more than half have been paying members. Of course location may be important. I can think of at least 3 other antipodean Advice members.

My settings are broad in terms of countries, not excluding...but according to the law of probabilities I think that I would have more chances of meeting someone down under than in NY for example.
So perhaps I just need to be hopeful and patient?

Remember others have to have their matches set for your distance also. I set mine for global, just for the fun of it. I think I only got about 4 in several months. As for the whole US. Less then 1/4 of my matches were willing to widen their search to the whole US.
So yes, be patient and take a break when you feel frustrated.

I concur with this. Trying to contact Customer Care online has been an exercise in frustration. Even to get there is several steps too many.

1. Click on help.
2. Click on a topic.
3. Click on contact us.
4. Write your message.
5. Click submit.
6. Click submit again since you have to do it twice to send the message.

Once you get a message back and realize that you've had a cookie cutter message that doesn't at all address your issue, you cannot reply to that message. You have to go through the first process all over again and you wind up getting a response from the different "person" than the first time.

Is there a reason why there can't be a "contact us" link right at the bottom of the pages?
