I have had over 42 matches in about two weeks and only communication with one person and now I he has stopped talking.

How can I find out if they are a paying member or up to date on their subscription?

Any help would be thankful.

Hi Special_Ed_Teacher,

Welcome to eHarmony Advice!

Sorry you haven’t been getting more communication from matches. I don’t know how to answer your question as far as how to determine who is or isn’t paying, and I don’t know if it applies or will help, especially in the case where someone “poofs” mid-communication.

It may be possible, however, that there are ways to spark more communication with your matches. In general, a variety of good, clear, photos, a detailed About Me page are the keys. It also seems that the more communication people initiate, the more communication they tend to receive.

For more comprehensive tips, you may want to check out the articles on our Using eHarmony page: Online dating tips : eHarmony Advice It’s chocked full of excellent ideas on improving your experience with eHarmony.

Also, a lot of people have posted the answers to their About Me page questions in our Profile Workshops for interactive feedback from other members: Dating advice message board

Or, you can just create a topic and post your whole About Me page if you feel comfortable.

Good luck with everything!

To put it simply, there is no one true way to determine if a match is active and paying.

There are clues you can use, but they are not foolproof. Some of the clues include multiple pictures and a fully-completed profile. The RelyID thing can also be a clue, but as I recall, that is a one-year subscription, so their membership may run out before their RelyID runs out.

The other reality is most of your matches are not active. The anecdotal evidence here is that about 90% of matches are not paying and cannot respond to a request to communicate. The folks from eHarmony dispute this number, but steadfastly refuse to provide their own numbers to dispute that figure.
