Hi all,

Apologies if this has been answered before.

I was really really interested in a match, so I sent the questions and an icebreaker. Then I decided I wanted to email to I requested to skip to email.

My question is can a non paying member respond to that email? Or at least accept the communication request? At the moment I cant even review what I sent her as it wont show me the email until she has accepted the communication request.

Definitely can't respond. Not certain about this, but they may not be able to read it either unless they cough up the subscription fee.

A non-paying member will receive an e-mail stating that they have received a communication request. Until they pay their money they will not be able to accept your request to ship to e-mail nor be able to read what you have sent.

The only communication that a non-paying member can do is to send an IceBreaker. This is why as a paying member you should never send an IceBreaker, it gives the impression that you are a non-paying member.

Good idea, Coffeeaddiction -

When in doubt, communicate. If they're paying, then you have nothing to lose. If they're interested, they'll respond. If they're not paying, it could be that they need that "proof" that their matches are real and interested. It's always encouraging to receive communication requests.

Good luck,

Although this is nice to know how many members are aware of this??? and frankly what difference does it make??? If someone receives my icebreaker and is interested they would reply, as I think I would do, and it is an incentive for them to join if they have some 'action.'

Not very many, as not very many use the boards; it's also not a hard and fast rule, it's merely an assumption made about people who use them. I receive icebreakers from active, paying members quite often, so I say use them if you want to! If people are going to limit their experience and wear blinders which exclude icebreakers from their view, then it's their loss if they made this assumption!

Coffee,
A nonpaying member can't respond usually, but the next time there's a Free Communication Weekend, they can, for the duration of the weekend.

However, it turns out nonpaid people can only use GC during FCWs ... they cannot go straight to EHarmony Mail. So this person will need to decline your email request. If they do, you can then resume GC with them and see if they answer that.

coffee, you got your answer about if a non paying member can respond, but I wanted to address the amount of communication you sent to this one person.

How far apart were the ice breaker and 1st questions? If they were the same day that is way too soon in my opinion. If you then, within the next day or so, decided to try for fast track e-mail, I also think this is too quickly. Give the person a chance to respond to the first communication.

I just had a guy send me an ice breaker and first set of questions. Just a couple of minutes apart from each other. I am hesitant to reply because I feel jumped on. Yeah, seems silly, but give me a chance to move, breath, something, before you send something else.

Can't respond... can't even read it. And.... won't be able to decline it until the next FCW.

The ONLY thing a non-paying member can do outside of a FCW is send an icebreaker. Oh, I guess they can close matches, too.

That's the way it is on another popular dating site that starts with a "C" and is usually a class offered in high school. I know from first hand experience there anyway. I had to cough it up to read a message, but I was very glad I did.
