What is the big idea with taking out the additional information box for our profiles? I went into my profile to add a little information to one box, saved the change, and poof my additional info is gone.

I had important information in that box which now has nowhere to go!

Please someone up there listen to a customer for a change and reconsider this!

Just checked. I still have the addtional information box (Q12) I can edit and update.

Nightling.. Do you mean question #13? One thing that only nightling's best friends know is.....I know this question has been scrapped and locked for editing.

eta:: The page could have timed out on you while updating. They suggest save as you go to avoid losing your answers.

Nope. It's question 12. Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?

It is not just that it timed out either. I went in like I said and tried to update a few things. Saved and poof info only in box 12 is gone. Everything else saved. Went back to the page, put the stuff in box 12 again and saved. Still poofed. Went to check the page itself to see if it was really gone. Yep poof. Added it back in once again but no use.

Went looking for boxes I could stick the information into in bits and pieces. There really isn't anywhere bc it doesn't fit the questions and they just sound stoopid tacked on the end of things.

I emailed customer care. We'll see if they treat me any better than passat. It looked to me like they were taking that box away. Maybe I am wrong, but if they are, I disagree with this change!

Passat is right.

They do not listen very well.

This is the response:

Dear (nightling yeah forgot to edit out my name lol),

Thank you for contacting eHarmony Customer Care.

I apologize that you are not able to edit the answer to the question regarding what only your friends know about you. Currently we are in the process of removing that question from our website, but for members such as yourself who have already answered it, it is still showing up.

Furthermore, while taking a look at your account, I noticed that your About Me page is not entirely filled out. This is the very first impression of you that your matches will receive. Our average of 236 eHarmony members getting married every day have told us that they did not communicate with matches who did not have a complete About Me page. We want you to take the time to fill in thoughtful, detailed answers in this section, like you would if you were actually speaking to a new friend.

To do this, please follow the steps below:

1. Log into your eHarmony account
2. Click on the About Me tab
3. Click on the Introductory Information subheading link
4. Scroll down this page and fill in your responses
5. Click on the “save changes” button

We look forward to helping you find the love of your life.

Sincerely,

(Blanking out name, not trying to get someone in trouble)
Customer Care
eHarmony

OK I know that part is not filled out! That's what I was emailing about the inability to fill that part out. lol *sigh*

Oh well, I figured it out finally. I tried to mention a web site — not that I was sending them to for contact information — but in relation to a factoid I wanted to share about myself. Mentioning any Web address is against the terms of service and that is why my box poofed. I can mention the factoid wo the site, it's just circumlocutious but that is OK.

The problem is now fixed. But I have to say, passat has a point. They didn't pay attention to my actual issue, and if I were still trying to figure this out I would be a little bit miffed.

I completely agree, nightling.

I emailed about an issue yesterday, and I got a canned response, along with a tip about something unrelated to my issue, as well as a paragraph about this site. Ummmm...hello, I'm a VCL, I think I know about the site!

To me, customer service isn't about how quickly the response is received, but about how accurately the issue is addressed and whether or not there is a resolution. I feel I was glossed over, and the answer given did nothing to help me. I responded to their email, and I see I received a response back, but I haven't opened it yet because I can see that my issue is still not resolved, and I don't want to read a bunch of garbage that has nothing to do with the issue I am having.

Okay, I'm done now.

Let me suggest that you send a PM to Lori on this problem. Lori listens, understands the problem and has connections to the development folks to pass the problems along to.

Who knows she may get tired of us contacting her about problems that Customer Care should be handling and get that department straightened out in the process

I went into my profile and checked and I have the Additional Information section. Based on what you have said I did not try to change what is in that section because if changing it makes it disappear I don't want that to happen (I actually had one match that read what is there )

I also checked on some of my matches (the ones with full profiles) and the information was still displayed in their profiles.

Everything is ok with that box, it was operator error. lol

(I tried to mention a Web site in relation to a factoid about me — not to provide contact info which I understand isn't allowed and I get why they must screen for that. So I fixed things to get my little idea in wo breaking the TOS.)

But I wanted people to see the customer service response, bc of the response to passat's complaint over in 'nother thread.

nightling, I had something similar happen a couple months ago. But, my entire profile disappeared. I would never have noticed it, because it wasn't immediate. eH customer care e-mailed me about it and I even got a free month because I had to redo my entire profile. Just sayin, it's not uncommon.
