An interesting point I noticed, is before you login on the eHa homepage it says "Why Men Choose eHarmony". Now I doubt it's reading my profile since I have not logged in yet which begs the question, why does it not say "Why Women choose eHarmony"?

My personal theory is that men are much more likely to pay for an online dating site rather than women, especially since at this stage of the courtship the power balance is heavily on the female side.

Actually eHarmony probably stores your gender in your cookie, which is why you're only seeing the "Why Men choose eHarmony" bit.

Well, in most cases it does remember you, and thus, tailors the text to your sex.
Thus, they actually do have both, "Why Men...", and "Why Women..."

EHarmony tends to attract more women then men.
This is because EHarmony markets itself as a long-term relationship/marriage site instead of a hookup site like POF/Match.

This appeals to a lot of females who would otherwise not even consider joining an online dating web site because of the stigma of the "Hookup/One Night Stand" aspect of what a lot of people think about dating sites.

There used to be a stat on the front page for us guys that indicated that the ratio was like 60-40 female/male.

It was removed, because I suspect it has evened out a bit more now, but I still believe there are more active, paid female members than male members.

When women log in, it does say, "Why women choose eHarmony."

I'm curious now as to why men choose it, but it seems to be for different reasons than women.

I choose it because I love burning through 250 profiles, barely reading them, wasting a hundred bucks and having 1 turn into a real life meeting.

No really, I do.

I've heard it's more like 80%+ female, but I don't know how the person who told me that got the info.

But it wouldn't have that info unless you had already joined, in which case that message doesn't mean anything.

I see it right now when on the log-in page. I have auto-renew turned off, so I think eHarmony is trying to entice me to re-up.
