I saw an ad on tv that there is a free communication weekend this thurs thru mon. I'm a paying member and just joined recently so I haven't experienced a free weekend yet. I'm wondering what all of you paying members have experienced during these free weekends? I have some people that I have made contact with that I haven't closed out yet and waiting to hear back from. Has anyone else contacted other people and they didn't respond until the free weekends? And any other reactions from the free weekends?

I hope you have much luck during this weekend since I think you had mentioned you were very frustrated with eH thus far. I have had some members request secure call during this time and try to speed through communication. I haven't had a ton of responses during this time, but a few people have tried to initiate communication during this time. Oh and by the time free weekends came around, I had already closed matches that I had requested to communicate with (it had been a little over a month of waiting for them).

Thanks for the response, Yup I'm still a frustrated, but trying to keep upbeat. So what is this "secure call" about and how does it work?

As I understand it, non-paying members still cannot see pictures or use Fast Track or whatever they want to call it these days.

I experience the same thing during a FCW as I do with any other day on eHarmony. A lot of dead profiles that don't go anywhere and people that do not communicate. I do see a little increase in communication, but I've never had a date come out of a FCW. Instead, I might get an email address only to never hear from that person again.

I agree! ... Dear Eharmony: Please make it a free communication WEEK, extend it over two weekends to give those on the fence time to truly see whether it would work for them! If this is a truly relationship site, not a hook-up site, they need more time to try! Otherwise, yes, they give out nudges or emails but later don't care enough, especially since photos are hidden (another thing to change). You'll get new customers only if they are invested enough (business 101?)

I think one think both EH and its members (at least East Coasters or those communicating with East Coasters) may want to take into consideration this weekend is the recent East Storms which have left a lot of people without power. People may not be able to communicate because they are either without power or have found a place with heat but no access to the internet because it's not exactly a priority with whats been dumped upon us and what is projected to be further dumped up on us. I myself maybe getting out of dodge with the rest of my family, while I don't think I'll lose power again, I'm not sure I want to be re-snowed in to find out.

An extension of the period may be nice as a result, but I wouldn't hold my breath either.

I am in a minority but I personally like the FCWs. I have communicated and dated people that were only on for the FCW. I also use the FCW as a point to clean out any non-communicating matches.

Not sure what to make of the free weekends and/or if they really can be used to some advantage or what the headaches are. I've only been a member with one free weekend this past Christmas. I guess I did notice a few matches with very poorly filled out profiles. Is that what free weekend means? lolol.
