Thanks, Lori!

This is one of my favorite About Me page questions, and yet I think it’s often misunderstood. Many people read this question as “tell your matches your deep dark secrets that only your closest friends know”. Consequently, some members defensively write something along the lines that you’d have to be their best friend to find out.

If you look at it another way, however, it gives you a chance to offer up some fun or interesting little-known fact about yourself. It’s yet another chance to let your matches know who you are and what you have to offer in a relationship.

Lori started a thread a few days ago called, “What are your “weird things?”: http://advice.eharmony.com/boards/da...rd-things.html (What are your "weird things"?)

For those who have a hard time coming up with what to say for this question, this thread might be a good place to get some creative ideas.

Okay, what brave soul wants to start?

All the best,

~Kate

Let's see...

If I told you, it wouldn't be something only they would know.

You're not my best friend yet.

You'll have to wait and see.

Sorry, I just had to do that.

Only my matches know what I put for this question!

Seriously, I don't want to quote myself here because what I put is a little unusual and I want to keep my identity here separate from what matches see...in case I ever want to post about a specific match! How convoluted is that!

But I liked this question...it gave me the opportunity to tell something about myself that didn't really fit elsewhere on the questionnaire but I wanted to include, and that I thought would make my profile slightly more memorable.

And I like when my matches use it that way too.

It is hard for me to say "No" when asked to help. I am working on it. No, no, no, no, no, no, well maybe OK.

Lol, Bearjay, i like that one

Is it possible to have this question re-worded so that people *don't* routinely misunderstand it?

That question is a true"ice breaker"....It opens the door for some REAL conversation with just a touch of mystery. It got my match's attention!

I'm glad this thread resurfaced, because I see my earlier comment ... and since then I changed this section to something more bland, in my never-ending quest to make myself more acceptable! I think this has been a mistake, and am going to go back to the earlier version. In fact I think I need to write a whole new profile, and just throw caution to the winds. I'm not trying to interest everyone, just those men who would actually like me as I am.

At first, I had: "They know where my tattoos are."

That seemed kinda "meh", so I changed it to "They remember my crushes on Mr. Spock and Ilya Kuryakin."

I hated that question. I really don't understand why it's there - isn't there already (from my possibly faulty memory) a section to write any other information we'd like to share?
