Wondering why there is no reason to choose such as:
"Profile too generic" or "Profile information not detailed enough" or "Profile did not reveal very much about who you are" or "Profile not filled out enough"..

instead I find I can only choose "Based on statements in their profile, I'm not interested in this match." which seems more like a rejection to someone and may make them wonder what it is in their profile that is turning others off...

Am I the only one who has this issue with closing matches because they don't have very much say in their profiles and not knowing what reason to choose?

Another question, is there a place on eHarmony to submit suggestions?

Perhaps one of the eH advisors will post here soon...

Meanwhile, I've decided to keep those non-detailed profiles open for a couple weeks, then check back and see if they've gotten any further with them; close if they haven't. I know I edited my profile a lot in the first few days here.

I suspect most of those very generic or short profiles are people who are unpaid members and haven't put in the energy yet; perhaps they will and perhaps they won't.

Dear Dolcemente,

First of all, welcome to eHarmony Advice!

Yes, there is a way to submit suggestions, and thank you for asking! Our Development team is always looking for ways to improve our site and service and many changes over the years have been the result of member feedback/suggestions. So you and all eHarmony members are always welcome to share your comments, feedback, and suggestions!

While we tried to create as comprehensive a list as possible from which members can choose their reason for closing a match, it may be time for a new reason to be added which specifically states that communication was closed because a match's About Me page isn't complete or not detailed enough. Not only will a member closing a match for that reason have a more accurate reason available, but a match who may need to do more work on their About Me page can get this important feedback!

If you or any other members would like to share their comments/suggestions regarding this issue with our Development team, click on the the Help link located at the bottom of all our Singles site pages or click here: http://help-singles.eharmony.com/.

From the FAQ page, click on any topic, and you will see an e-mail link. Once your e-mail is successfully sent, you will receive a confirmation number, and a Customer Care agent will be glad to forward your feedback to our Development team for their consideration.

All the best,

-Renee

Dear Sassafras,

Thanks for your post!

I meant in my previous post to also encourage Dolcemente and other members to do just as you are doing and allow a match with an incomplete or sparsely answered About Me page a few weeks to make improvements before closing the match.

Creating their About Me page is a learning process for most members, and it can take a little time to develop a detailed, thorough, effective page.

I think allowing a match two weeks is a good minimum timeframe. After all, a little patience and understanding never hurts and can pay really off!

All the best,

Maybe you could replace the one that says something along the lines of "because I was placed on hold" since that option hasn't existed in a long, long time.

I too give matches a couple of weeks to fill out their profile, but a "your profile isn't filled out enough" option is certainly overdue.

On a related note, precisely because it usually takes a few days for someone to get their profile in good shape, get photos up, etc (I know that was the case for me, and my experience with a number of matches indicates it's fairly common), it'd be nice if there was a "publish my profile" step to setting up your account, so that new members aren't matched with others until they feel they're ready to put their best foot forward. I was lucky to find the "turn off matching" feature just a couple of days in as I felt my profile was in a pretty sorry state (and didn't have any pictures) for about a week.

Matching new members before they've had a chance to fill out their profile doesn't really do anyone any favors, as it just increases the risk that an early match will close them out prematurely.

FYI there is an IceBreaker that says (asks) your match to finish filling out their About Me.

Of course that would be a double edged sword since sending IceBreakers is an indication that you are not a paying member.

How about a reason that says "I never could get you to ask any questions in Open Communication".

Can anyone enlighten me about the difference between "I'd rather not say" and "other"? They seem the same to me...

When I think I might be being rude, such as when I may close a match based on their photo (yes, I know I shouldn't...) I use 'other". When I close a match because I think they are being rude, such as going deathly silent halfway through GC I use "I'd rather not say"
