I have not seen any EH commercials lately on Canadian TV, so I am wondering if it is a free communication weekend for us Canucks since this is our long weekend for Thanksgiving?

Anyone know the answer to this??

If there is, I just might get some action finally!

I don't have an answer for you but as a general rule FCWs happen at the same time in the US and Canada. I have not seen or heard anything about a FCW this weekend but was wondering if it might be because this weekend is the Columbus Day holiday.

Not sure how a non-paying member sets up for a FCW but I would say just try communicating with matches.

Well usually I will start seeing commercials on tv for it and my communication picks up than.

So far it has been quiet and no commercials that I have seen.

I met my last g/f on the Labour Day Free weekend in 2008! I was a paying member and she was not. We lasted six months.

I am communicating with someone right now, about to go into OC with her so I know she is a payer. She initiated with me, which is refreshing change! That way she has to write the first OC to me instead of me trying to think of what to put! *LOL*

I have always wondered whether Canadians viewed "Canuck" as insulting or not. I guess not! Or is it something you can only call yourselves? I've gotten different answers from different people up there.

How do we know when free weekends occur?

FCWs usually occur on the more major holiday weekends. There are usually ads on television though I think they are local ads and not national network ads so they may or may not be on your stations. There will usually be a thread here and usually when there is going to be a FCW someone will post a definitive answer from having seen a TV ad or gotten an e-mail notice from eHarmony. Also frequently one of the moderators will post when there is a FCW.

I've not heard of it being an insult at all, just a nickname. I'm certainly not offended by it so canuck away!

I was wondering about the free communication weekend myself and I *think* there was one yesterday though I only had the tv on for background noise. In other words, please don't take my word for it.

Yes... the FCW for Canada started on Friday and continues until Monday night. The TV commercial was airing about every 20 minutes when I was watching "Miss Congeniality"

So is this just a FCW for Canada or also the US. There are quite a few Canada / US cities that would be matching within even the 30 mile (how ever many kilometers that is) distance setting. Not me of course but just saying.

I can now confirm that this is a free weekend for at least Canada!

I just went through all the stages with someone who confirmed that they are not a paying member. I met her last night for coffee and will probably see her again soon!

Now a funny thing, I was going through old matches today and closing out old ones since I had over 120 matches open. I closed out one and was moving along the list when I get an email saying I had a communication from someone. I went to read her answers and it came up as match closed. So I figure she was answering mine when I closed her. As luck would turn out, I was still able to answer her questions and put my email one of the replies in hopes that she would be able to read it. Sure enough, she sent me an email about ten minutes later and we are going to communicate through email instead so we can answer each other without logging in and out of here!

So the free weekend has helped me again, we will see what happens I guess!
