I'm so over the dragged out process of Guided Communication so my communication preference is listed as FastTrack.

Why do matches that respond to me disregard the fact that I'd prefer to just email to get to know each other? I realize it's more personal to email from the get-go but come on, if a match says that they prefer FastTrack shouldn't you communicate with them that way?

And why does the website say that having FastTrack as your communication preference will get more people to respond to you?

Ok, done with my rant

Because most matches are inactive. Writing an opening e-mail is a lot of work if you want it to make a good impression. That's a lot of wasted effort on matches who may not have logged on in 6 months.

I usually open with the standard multiple choice questions. If the match wants to jump to fast track after I know there is actually someone on the other end of the match, I'm fine with that.

Maybe you don't mean in this way, but when I read this, it came off as very egotistic. Flip your statement around...if your match's preference is for GC, shouldn't you communicate with them that way?
Does a preference for FastTrack somehow outweigh a preference for GC? If you want to skip GC, go ahead and FastTrack a match after they send the multiple choice questions. But don't assume that every match you're sent is going to be looking to accommodate your communication preferences over their own.

q,

Most people on EH like GC. (It's one of the reasons that I keep paying month after month.)

No, I didn't mean to be egotistical at all. I just don't understand why you have to list your preferred method of communication if no one is going to pay attention to it. What's the point? If I want to initiate communication with a match I do so according to what their preference is.

My guess would be.. it's there for all the free weekend people, who never become members because they get scared off by GC..
I personally prefer gc..

At first I don't like GC. But now, I think it has a value here.

The initial 5 questions are weird. But if someone gives more elaborated answers (option E), that will allow me understand him more. I'll also give elaborated answers to people I'm interested.

When it goes further to the 3 questions, I'll check if the person checked my profile again, or how long it takes there. And, sometimes, the 3 questions they sent to me or I sent to them could be a huge turn off. For example, I asked someone with a nice profile how come he needs on-line dating as he seems to have a lot of friends and outgoing. No answer for over a week LOL....Maybe he thought I'm rude or whatever reason. Another person asked me 3 questions revealing his interests and attitude that are pretty far away from me. I don't wanna send him reply. But I guess to close in this stage is a bit awful. And, well EHA always say, have a hope something like that LOL....well, whatever...

So, I think GC has a point here to give people some idea the opposite side. At least some topics to chat in later stage.

If you initiate then you can send a Fast Track request to me. I can either choose to do things the way you want and accept. Or choose to do things the way I prefer and decline and give you the opportunity to then send First Questions. If I decline you have the choice to either respect my wishes or feel that I am not respecting your wishes and close me.

And so I like Guided Communication so if I initiate and send First Questions to you shouldn't you follow my preference.
