There are often more than just five things for any of us, but I do pay great attention if the entry is filled out. It tells me a lot about if a match might find me to fit their ideals.

For me:
a) Mutual Appreciation and Respect
b) Loyalty and Honesty
c) Communication
d) Romance, lots of it.
e) Creativity and Spontaneity.

Ok, some doubles there, but hey, there was space in the entry fields! I'd include physical attraction in (d-Romance), but that's only part of it.

My advice to all is to be as verbose as you can in your entries! Express all that you can, to find the right match for you.

I don't know if this is the appropriate thread to start this discussion, so please feel free to ask me to move it.

Is it just the double standard thing rearing its ugly head, or are men not allowed to list 'sex' as an important item in their profiles?

Are men perceived as being perverts, horn dogs, pigs, etc., etc. if we list sex as an important item, or do the ladies accept this as an innocent part of our profiles?

kiss_that_frog,
to me, it's information. It's certainly human...All other things in a profile being equal, it might make a difference, maybe...

My list (and I'm not 100% satisfied with it):

a)My friends
b)My cat
c)A place to call my own -- even if it's small
d)A comfortable pair of shoes (in good repair)
e)Breakfast

To kiss that frog, I would say when I see "sex" or some variation thereof on a man's "what I can't live without" list, I just role my eyes. But it doesn't count against them, unless they mention sex in every single category, like 3 things you're thankful for, what you are looking for in a partner, etc. If they mention it every time, then I pretty much just close the match. Not because I don't like sex-- I do! But I'm not into perverts that think, talk, breathe sex every single second... or at least do it out loud! :-)

What turns me off is the "literal" answer... air, food, water.... are you trying to be funny? Cause it didn't work!!

Here are mine, feel free to critique!!

1. My kids/family
2. my faith
3. my friends
4. music and art
5.learning and writing (I'm a grad student in anthropology)

I find this to be the most worthless and annoying question in the whole profile. The super-short answer boxes allow no opportunity to say anything worthwhile. I don't think I've ever seen anything of value with this question.

Most women I was matched with gave insightful answers like "air" (or even "oxygen"), or various girly things like "shoes" and "chocolate". None of which increased my interest or attraction. I just don't think there are any "good" answers.

Oprah-esque stuff like Robert gave above are just blue-skies and puppy-dogs, and can't possibly be appealing... can they? After all, if he really couldn't live without "Romance, lots of it.", he wouldn't be on eH looking for it. So therefore, he is "living without it". Again demonstrating the worthlessness of this question.

The profile already has long-form questions to explore passions and inner qualities. So why try to repeat it in a much shorter and more worthless form?

Oh - and did I mention that I really dislike this question?
