It has been said and wriiten a lot about the matching the paid members vs. the unpaid ( in order to encourage them to purchase a subscription). However let's imgine that Eh was the ideal world where all matches were paid members and communicate with each other without obstacles.
On the positive side -: There will be more happy members and eharmony business would flourish.
However on the negative side it may look like - opening the Pandora's box. Giving the instrument of power in hands of wrong people could be disastrous.
Imagine how the non paying matches( some but not all of them ) would react to the new advatage:
There will be like: Oh I will revanch to all of you now, all who closed me in the past. In virtual reality the new matches (old paying matches) will be anihilated completely as of result of some who went out free after "many months in jail".
Simply saying then it is possible that the amounts of :
"other" and "I prefer not to say" or "I dont feel the Chemistry..."
would be skyrocketing to such extent that it may threaten to destroy the whole Eharmony system. As you can handle let's say for now 1-2 closures a day, how would it be 7-12 closures every day.
Very few people would feel excited about it and wont join Eh at all.
Somehow Eh is able to control the access of the unpaid members to the system either for good or bad.
any other opinions?

If they had pics I wouldn't have that much of an issue with it, however I get a lot of what appear to be Drive By members with no pictures.

Yessss..... window shopping I call it . As for me, I think I'd prefer numerous closures over waiting for a response from guys who will never respond because they can't. It does make me question the sincerity of the people who sign up as well as this site. If you aren't serious about finding a real relationship, I see no reason to be here. There are plenty of "booty call" sites out there for those who seek something more casual.

I'm not sure it would work. I think I was a non-paying member for 7-10 days after setting up my profile. If I had worked out how to switch off the matching feature in that time, I would have done so. I was still trying to work through setting up my profile fully.

I would have less of an issue with non-paying members if:

~ I could tell that I had been matched with a non-paying member; or
~ EH gave me the ability to filter to receive paying matches only.

Ultimately, I switched matching off and cancelled my subscription for several reasons, but certainly dissatisfaction as to cost and the frequency of matches who appeared to be non-paying were key consideration points.

You ask "what if all matches were paid members"?

1) Poofing would still be alive and well...and even more so because there would be so many more to poof on (lol)

2) Profiles without pics or crazy MHCS would still abound on EH.

3) Threads about weight, height and what kind of car he drives would quadruple overnight because people would be dating more and be much more unsatisfied with matches.

4) More gender war threads as men and women knock themselves silly in that insurmountable race to find 'the one'...but this time it would be women v.s. women/men v.s men dueling it out on the boards! (keke).

In other words...more stoopidity and stoopid-ness....more unhappy folks complaining about matches. You know the old saying "More does not necessarily mean better". It would not change the way people act and think much!

BTW: Yeah...Yeah...I know I'm just a perky 'bowl of cheer' this morning , but I'm working on my grumpy mood...please bear with me until the real Legend29 returns!

What if we had world peace? Hmmm...

Some things are just not achievable. The only choice we have is either accept them as they are, or not... I guess.

Yet somehow, your posts almost always manage to cheer me up, even when you are working in your grumpy (and I bet, tired) moods.

But I still can't wait for the return of the really legendary Legend29!

Thanx ICM for slapping me silly and waking me up this morning....I had a bowl of nails and hardtack this morning for breakfast. (lol)

I think I need to go back to sleep and wake up on the right side of the bed and start all over again!

I am who I am.... and unfortunately that's all there is....

Now all I have to do is find that grumpy, non-smiling, fuzzy pic of meself...seems to describe my mood expertly this morning!

(argh!!!!!!!!!!...sounding like a one-legged pirate suits me)...LOL

Stop beating yourself up - you are right, you are who you are - none other than the Legend around here! which sounds pretty fortunate to me

But please spit out those nasty rusty nails and look at the bright side of life - there is always one to see, even when it's hiding behind the cloudy shadows.
