I received a match this week (the only one for that day). In the profile it stated: "NOTE: I am currently a non-subscriber". I am new to eHarmony (been here approx.one month) and I would like to know why I would be matched with someone who is not a subscriber. I closed this "match" as it did not seem to be a match at all as the match cannot communicate with me. Any insight as to why I would be sent a profile of a non-subscriber? .

I think eH must be missing the human oversight because I am getting some totally off the wall 'matches'. I am not willing to go to Cananda and too many of the 'matches' they send me are in their early to mid 60's. I am canceling my subscription. Thus far no one responds to my questions and I don't need to feel like a bigger loser than I already do. Good luck.

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? ...am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
My god!...what have I done?

They match you with anyone in the system who could potentially be a match for you, whether they are a subscriber or not. It is their hope that a non-subscriber will join once they see their matches. While it might make sense from that stand point, it usually proves to be a point of contention for those of us who subscribe to the service. While you will be matched with paying members, as well, this will continue to happen, and most people won't bother to mention this in their profiles.

It could have been someone who had an account for a weekend and they want to keep sending matches to you regardless if they are active or not.

Thats a terrible business practice.

Pay me money and I'll wave a carrot in someone's face too

Not my idea--don't shoot the messenger. I don't like it either, but it's the reality of the situation.

Most of your matches, about 90%, will be non-paying members. eHarmony's business model is that the non-paying member will receive a match that will be so interesting that they will then pay their money to communicate. Problem is most non-paying members are also non-active and could care less about communicating and will never pay.

Before you ask, no there is no way to know if a match is a paying member or not. And another before you ask, this is the same thing on all the other dating sites.

At least this person said they did not subscribe, but he should have turned off matching before leaving the system.

I've had several matches offer up emails or IM handles in their profiles in an effort to "beat the system." I've also seen matches tell me when their subscription expires. Usually, the match comes months after their subscription runs out. If I got a match today that said "My subscription expires March 12" I wouldn't think that we have months ahead to get to know each other.

The reality of the system is that it is wrought with non-paying members. As already stated, the business model is people will want to subscribe so they can talk to all these great matches. In reality, it does a lot to anger up the paying members.

Why do I feel compelled to make sudden jerking movements when I read this?
